A lot of people on Reddit are speculating they will definitely sell within a year or two. Apparently if they wait two years they can avoid capital gains taxes. I agree with a lot of the other criticism here. I think the house has a poor layout, and it also has a lot of serious damage that they did not realize when they purchased it – extensive water damage, probably mold, and the septic system was all messed up and the house had not been lived in for years. And they paid a lot of money for it. It just doesn’t make sense, they had a beautiful home in Richmond, their family and the kids friends are there, and they moved to this tiny house near the beach. I feel bad for their kids losing that proximity to friends and family. Ones bedroom is a laundry closet |
I think they’ll fix it up and rent it out. |
Where in FL is the new house? |
Yup... And then they’ll buy another house close to the beach and begin again. |
But they are way too anal retentive (john) to rent out to strangers. The only way I see this working is that they keep it as a family vacation house (for extended family too) and they find a much nicer property to actually move into.
She is just plain nuts and has acted like she has never seen a tree before. Yet their Richmond lot had a damn forest behind it. |
No way. They’re definitely going to rent it out after they finish renovating it. Remember, they were renting out their duplex all summer, why wouldn’t they rent out another beach house? |
They haven’t said. It’s somewhere in the panhandle that’s in central time. |
Small town in the panhandle. |
Their business is renovating and flipping houses and blogging about it. If they stay, they lose their income. |
Lots of us live in small houses, around 1000 square feet with 2/3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It isn't a big deal. Our bedrooms are tiny. We only sleep or read/ipad in them. |
This gives them a new house to renovate, which is their business. |
Disagree- they will flip it. The duplex in cape Charles showed they are absolutely not cut out for renting. They were obsessed about potential issues and minor details the whole time they rented that place... |
+1 |
Because they hated it. They don't like to have to take care of a property and clean after each rental. They also said they don't want to pay someone to do it. So that leaves the to do it and they said they didnt like it. |
Yes, but I am certain your house has a better floor plan than the one they created in this mess. Does your son sleep in an old laundry room. Is your master the largest room in the house while your kids have bedrooms the size of closets? Did you give up a wonderful family home for absolutely no reason to move down to humid spotty Florida where you have no family around to live in a cracker jack box that only you seem to be in love with |
