End of January is... vague. Just like "holiday season" was vague. Shouldn't something as huge as this museum know the exact date of their opening at this point b/c "end of January" is coming up QUICK!

It does seem really odd. The keep pushing the opening back.

Frankly, it sounds pike the $15 million still needed as of last March hasn’t come through, or it wasn’t enough.

It’s quite expensive as well.. for DC area museums.

Really bad mismanagement.

The good news is that at some point (when all of my children are grown up) there will be a Children's Museum in Fort Totten as well with different management.

Maybe in three years?

I agree though. When this museum was in National Harbor it was terrible, overpriced, poor imitation of its predecessor.

I thought junior league was running it or something - there was probably a volunteer that built that site years ago and is long gone.

I don’t think so at all!Building museum, spy museum, and Newseum are all more expensive. This isn’t a free Smithsonian.

Ok, so what's the deal with that one?

This is the website for their museum:

They've been having high quality events and pop up exhibits for years, so I have faith that it will be a good museum when it eventually opens.

I went with my kids to their original location shortly before it closed for what I think was supposed to be 3 years. It was great and my daughter asked me for years when we could go again. Now she's in college.

Here's a story from the Washington Post about the whole saga. Based on the mismanagement described in the article, and their demonstrated track record, if they do open anything, it's liable to be another stop-gap half-measure. I don't expect them to produce a full museum experience like my kids had at the original site.

Enough progress to be open at the end of January as their webs has said for the past two months?
