Hate crime on metro yesterday

Op you’re not supposed to eat or drink on Metro either and people do that all the time. Why are you not upset about that “crime ?”

It isn’t a priority because the DC Council has basically decriminalized fare evasion and quality of life offenses in Metro. The police feel that their hands are tied. It isn’t worth their careers to arrest or even cite some perps and have them play the race card on social media and in the press. Look for conditions in Metro to get progressively worse, particularly in the District.

Look this guy was scary and I would have gotten off that car myself but you can't arrest someone for yelling on the metro. Then the police would have to decide what kind of yelling was acceptable. I'm willing to put up with stuff like this just so the police can't arrest anyone who happens to yell on the metro.

BTW yelling racial and homophobic epithets on Metro is not a crime. It's despicable, yes. But it's not a crime.

Yeah, if you're going to eat on the Metro at least have the decency to clean up after yourself. I saw someone just the other day toss an open soda bottle on the floor - with soda still in it. Some people just don't give a sh*t.

1) stand on the right, walk on the left
2) let everyone out before you go in
3) mind your business, and ignore the mentally ill. Do not engage, put headphones in, do not make eye contact. It's not personal - they're just ill.

Not at all a "hate crime." Twitter guy sounds like he lives in Winchester and takes metro 1-2x a year.
