I think Michelle is beautiful. I love the color of the dress. Once the bust line transitions, the fabric just falls to the ground. There is no shape, silhouette, nothing like he sketched mermaid or trumpet styles posted on p1.
The designer did not make this to match Michelle’s strengths and beauty. They failed at that attempt. However, Michelle still looks lovely. It really is what you have good on the inside shining on the outside. |
| The sketch and reality are nothing alike. I think if the post were more proportional it would be at least 50% better. She looks better in her J. Crew dresses of old. |
post = bust |
|
I hate dresses that have "borders" or outlines the cleavage.
Black people age well in the face. She looks good there. |
| Ugly, mermaid dress. I love MO but this dress is a big no and a big no on her. Who is advising her on style?! |
|
Michelle Obama is an absolutely beautiful woman and looks gorgeous is so many clothes, but this dress does not flatter her at all. It looks as though it is meant for someone in their 20s, not a woman in her late 50s.
But, to be fair, it’s the only outfit I’ve ever seen her in that she didn’t look fantastic in, so there’s that. 99.99% of the time she rocks whatever she’s wearing. |
| Mermaid meets yellow tube. Not flattering. |
She should just pick her own clothes instead of falling to a “designers” ruse. Her own choice of clothes is so much better. That color looks good only on raw silk not shiny satin. Plus the cut is unflattering for her body type |
| this is sad - i LOVE MO but this dress isn't flattering - that said i love this color on her and her skin is amazing |
this. The color is so beautiful on her and SHE is beautiful - but the dress is odd |
I've thought MO's taste was a little...eccentric since I saw her in those thigh-high glitter boots. She's wearing stuff that makes her look like a drag-queen rather than a successful and beautiful first lady - IMO.

| Michelle is a gorgeous woman but this dress is only slightly less worse than that bright yellow disaster with the thigh-high boots. |
|
I don't understand the outrage that the dress makes her look square in the waist and small-chested.
Both of those things are how her body is shaped. Why does everything we wear have to "flatter" us to make our body a way it's not??? |
I think we all want to look our best, and many times that means emphasizing our good qualities and downplaying those we like less. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to look the best we can. |
Agreed. She is beautiful and the gown was not. It did nothing for her strong, athletic body. |
