One of the women at work is getting divorced as her husband cheated on her. She could be a model, looks alone won't hold on to a husband as she found out.

Years ago, my not-so-attractive friend was the AP of a slightly older guy. Not ugly, just not pretty or sexy even with makeup and hair done professionally. She was 29 and he was 40. We thought he was married to a frump. Turned out his wife was a local celeb and stunning! The DW was the high earner and a frequent traveler. It was pretty obvious to us that the DH really just wanted her and my friend was one of many attempts to get the DW’s attention. Sadly, she got pregnant and had a bad blowup with him and a miscarriage before she realized it.

My ex husband cheated with his secretary, and she looked like a horse. Terrible teeth, a giant schnoz, and she dressed like a retired librarian. But she made him feel important, powerful, and respected. He had to look pretty far down to find someone to look up to him. I think that's common with cheaters.

This is my knowledge too. When I was in my late 20s / early 30s, I was dating single guys around my age, maybe 5 years older, with good education, good careers and from upper middle class families. My good looking friends were similar - we were looking for husbands. The ones less fortunate from a physical appearance prospective were with leftovers - married guys, broke, uneducated.

And it’s not only about looks but also education/outlook on life etc. where they may sacrifice. Of course if they end up having kids together, this means kids’ outcome will also be different for 1st and 2nd wives?

Absolutely. It's in my divorce agreement that he put a set amount into the kids' college fund every month. The secretary has already bitched about that because she isnt saving for her 3 kids to go to college, so why should he? Ugh. Not my problem.

Lol. Of the men I know that had affairs, their wives were old dogs and/or got fat. The AP’s were a major step up!

Most wealthy and accomplished women I know around here are not dogs and certainly do not get fat. So I think we are living in different demographics.

I am objectively not as good looking as my APs wife. But I'm definitely in better shape. I'm not insecure. I'm good in bed. AP got tired of being rejected by his wife and now he's rejecting her. I'm fun and funny. Even before AP & I connected, I knew his wife was good looking but ... Not the kind of person I want to hang out with (fake-y, plastic-y, insecure).

My DH is slightly better looking than my AP. But. AP is bigger. Taller. Fitter. Funnier. Not insecure at all. And sexy as hell. And not my husband, who I no longer want to hang out with (and is somewhat insecure).
