Caught neighbor's kid not cleaning up dog poop

Anonymous
Yes, call the parents. They are probably unaware. If it were my kid/pet, I'd want to know so that I could deal with it.

OP, what other types of easy things do you need to crowd source? Curious.

The kid is probably scared and thinks you’re going yell at him or he’ll get in trouble if he comes back. You should just speak to the parents.

"Hey Nancy. Just wanted to remind Larlo to come back with the bag to pick up the poo. I hate it when I forget bags at home too. Thanksbye."

This, but pick it up this time and hand it to her in a bag.

Next time, supply the bag with a smile. "Here! I even have a bag for you!"

DH sent out an email to all 50 residents complaining that as non pet owning family he should not have to sidestep piles of dog crap and or sweep the yard before letting our kids play outside. We got 2 immediate apologies and one neighbor who has stopped speaking to us (apparently guilty) but, compliance. So sick of our yard becoming a toilet.

We put up a fence because we were tired of dealing with this. What is wrong with people?

Yes I would have said..hang on a minute I will get you a bag to clean that up. End of situation. I would probably not make this my first introduction to neighbors I did not know unless it is a continual problem.

All Services » Police Department
To report a pet owner not cleaning up pet waste, please notify the Montgomery County Police, Animal Services Division via the police non-emergency number, 301.279.8000. If the incident is occurring in the City of Rockville, please call 240.314.8930. If the incident is occurring on Park property, please call Park Police at 301.949.8010.

What a waste of county services. Raccoons sh*t in your yard too, OP.

If the raccoon had an irresponsible owner, I’d be mad at that fool, too. Not OP, just can’t stand irresponsible pet owners. You guys make everyone look bad.

I would have offered him a bag, as others have suggested, and if I came back out with the bag and he was gone I would have walked the poop down to his house and told the parents about the interaction you had with the kid.

Is this really a big deal in the scheme of things? I would pick it up myself and not think twice. If he did it repeatedly, I'd speak to his parents.

I would certainly knock on their door if the poo was on my property. I’ve done it before.

If it’s not on my property, I would not feel comfortable pursuing this.

Vinegar repels animals from pooping at specific places. I would spray vinegar on the porch to deter the dog, in addition to speaking to the parents.

Yes, tell the parents. My kid would get a serious consequence for this. I would not be amused and would definitely want to know.
