This is OP, don't be a jerk. I will take a Drake gif any day, thanks PP! |
It’s Definitely not how it works in NYC. It’s why middle class people leave for the suburbs. Private school in nyc is for the .1% |
| I want an HBO series like Big Little Lies about this. |
| Fun read (I'm a NYer). The drama is so so petty, and all the parents there seem pretty annoying and self-important. |
|
I had heard about these sorts of dramas. But, I guess I always partly chalked it up to myth. Who has the time, desire, etc. to deal with this stuff? I guess I was wrong.
I cannot relate to these people at all. |
| Has anyone seen the documentary Nursery University? Reminds me of that. Yes, could absolutely be made into a film. |
I live in NYC, have had kids in private preschools, and I know of these dramas though I've always just been on the periphery. It's crazy how worked up people get about PRESCHOOL. I mean in this story people are getting worked up about the library shelving and potluck dinners. There was similar drama at mine, and I was always like "what? who cares? it's preschool. I don't GAF what snacks they eat or what kind of singalongs they do in wintertime." People with kids leaving the school (and no younger siblings coming in) would still be locked in a deathmatch over the most trivial issues. I always thought they had too much time on their hands. |
Same! This would be a fun juicy watch. |
| Gentrification is real. |
That's just what I was picturing as I read the article. |
Brooklyn Heights has always been upscale. I know tons of people who grew up there and all fit the old school WASP mode that the article mentions. Pretty sure all attended Grace Church and I know that all went on to Packer or St Ann’s. It’s a lovely area and was a lovely community. |
LOL. It was a joke. No doubt, though, there's a different kind of rich living in Brooklyn these days. My DH grew up in the Heights, went to St. Ann's, and actually knows Hope. He says she's extraordinarily nice. |
Ohhhh, ask him about the aftermath of this article! Also, apparently the author of this article has had several other stories optioned for movies or miniseries, so please ask your DH who Hope would like to portray her when it hits Netflix! |
| That article is spot on about Bank Street Brides. lol |
I had no idea there are grown up women out there named Hatsy.
