| I love dogs and am a dog person but these people are out of control. I don’t mind when they are walking outside and pick up after their dog. I mind a lot when my coworkers bring their dogs to work. It’s inappropriate and not cute. We are working. I’m sick of people bringing dogs out in public everywhere when they are obviously not service animals. You don’t need to carry your dog through the grocery store. |
Yes, I would never expect my friends to like my dog. OP, just tell your friends you're not into dogs. OP, are you by chance from the Middle East originally? My Arab friends mostly don't care for dogs because dogs are not considered "pets." I don't have a problem if they don't want to be around my dog. I try to accommodate them. I love my dog but humans come first! |
The biggest problem with dogs is how much noise pollution they cause. They'll stand around outside emitting the same idiotic bark for hours on end, day after day after day. It's almost daylight now which means our genius neighbors should be putting their dogs out to bark anytime now.

| I have come to LOVE watching dogs poop. Shaky back legs and sad, pitiful expressions. They're so vulnerable and adorable. Awww. *hearteyes* |
| I try not to make my friends who don't like dogs have to deal with/pet my dog. That's just basic decency. |
DP at least cat people don't bring their cats to outdoor cafes or Safeway! Btw, I consider myself an animal lover but, don't expect everyone to love my animals. When I walk my dog I avoid people unless they ask to pet or interact. As for picking up the poop I consider it the same as changing a diaper. It is unpleasant but, necessary. |
| I completely understand, OP. People should not expect you to converse about their pets and pet them. I don't inflict that on my friends. |
| I am a dog person but I don't force others to be. That's just weird. Having said that, I naturally don't trust (or frankly, even like) people who don't love (all) animals. To not be amazed by nature and all its wonders is just baffling and sad. |
| Your boss should not be asking you to watch her dog at work! That is the height of entitlement. I admit that I loathe the idea of dogs at work places myself, except service dogs of course (not emotional support though). |

Petting your animal puts me at risk for poison ivy, which could send me to the hospital.
I have no clue where your friend has been. |
Chihuahuas are HORRIBLE ANIMALS. Agressive and neurotic and mean. I have never met a single one that I like, and yes I've had close contact with about 10 because I have a family member like you. Going to their house is hell because of these nippy little things that the owner thinks is "so cute" when they try to bite literally anyone who is not the owner. Awful awful animals. |
Agree |
Oh, please! A leased dog crapping on a busy sidewalk is not a wonder of nature! |
| I like dogs but I'm not one of those people that will bend over or get down on my knees so a dog can lick me on the face. Dogs sniff poop and other dogs butts, so how can you allow it to lick you o the face? I think that's gross! |

I used to love dogs until I moved to the city. There should be a ban against owning a dog in the city. It’s disgusting to live with dog sh*t smeared on every sidewalk and grassy area. It’s wrong to have to share public parks with crapping and peeing dogs.
Own a dog if and only if you own your own property where your dog can urinate and crap. |
