| Get what is on the card. People would do a double take if I listed my 11 yo boy’s sizes. He’s a tiny sprite of a person. He has a classmate, female, who is taller and bigger than I am, and I am not a sprite of a person. They’re in 5th grade. |
| Why are people buying different sizes than requested? How do you know that the parents didn't already size up? |
| DD1 is almost 5 and wears a size 8 shoe, and DD2 is three and wears a 6, so I would not have thought twice seeing the size 9. I think you should get shoes in a size 9 or 10. |
| Presume they mean the toddler size 9 and get it. She probably has tiny feet. No way she has grownup size 9. |
| Get the shoes a size up and a gift receipt for the shoes. Shoes are more important than another outfit. If you buy boots or sneakers, even if they are a little big, they can be worn. |
| It could be right. My 10 year old is only in a size 2 now and probably was in a toddler 9 at age 5, even though her clothing size was larger. |
Agree. Feet size can really differ. My 2 year old wears a much smaller shoe than my 5 year old did at her age, even though she wears the same clothing size he wore at her age, or possibly bigger because girls clothes are cut narrower. At just turned 2 she wears the shoe size he wore at 14 months. I haven't been able to reuse any of his old boots yet! I would trust that the parents need the shoe size they listed and get that. |
| It sounds right. My 6 yr old dd wears size 8 clothes & 10 shoes (she’s tall & skinny with little feet). |
A size 6 would be even more outlandish. I think the size is likely accurate Get her a size up like others suggested, along with some thick socks. |
my huge 14 month old wears 2T and size 6 shoe. If I wanted room to grow I would do 3T and 7 shoe. This kid must be enormous!! |
| My 7 year old DD wears size 10 shoes (toddler). I don’t remember what size she was at the age of 5, maybe 8 or so? Not everyone has big feet. |
Wow, my 22 month old is tiny. He is in 18 month clothes and just sized up to size 5 shoes! |
|
The sizes are probably right.
Or maybe the shoe size is right and the clothes size is a little big so she can wear them longer. Either way just get what’s on the card. |
That is small for 22 months, but not outlandish. And a lot depends on clothing brands and cuts. My 19 month old wears 3T shirts and 2T or 3T leggings from Carters, Target, or Old Navy. But she wears 24 month shirts from the Macys brand, and in non-legging pants she is down to 18 month size because they are cut more broadly. She is also in a 6 shoe, but shoe size really varies. She is about 70% for height, 45% for weight, but has small (but fat) feet. Also, people have different definitions for when clothes fit. The other girls in her class wear t-shirts that barely touch the waistband of their pants, and ride up to expose their bellies. I don't like that look, so I buy tunic-style shirts or, if a regular shirt, I go up a size. So she may be wearing a larger size than other kids in her class who are bigger. |
| I have to admit, this is why I hate those giving trees. |
