Entrance to Science and Tech

Are scores available to everyone now?

I tried to access them with no luck. The message doesn't say whether the scores aren't ready for us yet or if I'm entering the wrong code. I used the student ID.

My child's scores aren't showing up on her college board dashboard either. I tried the matching tool but it failed to recognize her student ID and we weren't given an access code, so looks like I'll have to call PGCPS and college board.

I don’t know how the kids got their scores but at my child’s school (kenmore) they all can access their scores.

PGCPS told me that scores are not available for everyone yet.

Good for this year’s class. They changed it last year with no information before and after the results were released. Based on DC’s middle school friends at Kenmoor, so far so good. Hope you all get in. Lol. Happy Holidays.

Anonymous wrote:So I finally found confirmation online that the scoring system mentioned above is indeed correct.Program Admissions:

The scores from the PSAT 8/9 in conjunction with Core Content GPA in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies from all quarters/trimesters of the previous school year and the first grading period of the current school year are combined to create a total score.

The evaluation scale goes up to 2880.

The equation used to determine student composite scores is as follows:

PSAT 8/9 Verbal Score + PSAT 8/9 Math Score + Core Content GPA (360)
Total Possible Score = 2880

How does one calculate the core content GPA to reach a number along the lines of the "360" in the example? Does the GPA get multiplied by another number somewhere? I looked on the web page and can't find any explanation of how "360" is a core content GPA. I think of a GPA as being 3.5 or 4.0, etc.

360 * GPA

if 4.0 360* 4 = 1440.

Its just to weight the GPA 50% of the total (ie 2880)

Then the PSAT sections are each 25% (720 max each)

Scores are out btw. Log in to your collegeboard acct. Math scoring is brutal.

Multiple the GPA by 360 and add it to the PSAT score. That's it.

Thank you. What do you mean about the math scoring? Is the PSAT math test brutal?

No. Very few wrong answers seem to = large drops in scores. There is no practical impact on anything, including S&T admission, since everyone is on the same scale.

It could suggest the particular version of the psat administered was easier than average but I'm not sure.

My child was told letters went out yesterday. Anyone receive anything yet?

My daughter received a letter offering admission to Academy of Health Sciences today -- but nothing about Roosevelt yet. Not sure if the letters went out on the same day.

Congrats to your daughter! I would be happily surprised if Science and Tech letters come out this early in February. I think the large number of applicants slows the process down.

They were told by someone at school that letters were sent out. Don't know if it is true.

I don't understand why results can't be communicated electronically!!
