25th amendment time: stop treating Trump's mental illness as a personality quirk

Which would be to everyone's benefit: Democrats will be able to claim proudly that they were instrumental in ousting the President, and Republicans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief while not alienating their lunatic pro-Trump fringe.
Win-win.
And it's quite likely to happen, too!
It's why Pelosi and top Democrats are very stealth when it comes to impeachment, they don't want to spook everyone out before they strike. Let the base bay for blood, they're biding their time.

I think you're nuts. But frankly, I'm OK with President Pence. Are you?

NP. No, I’m not ok with a corrupt, Manafort-installed closeted fail-governor with no ethics and few brain cells ascending to POTUS. Why are you ok with that?

Oh, and I’m so sorry your pathetic little Knights thread got deleted. It’s hard being you.

DP

- Moreso than Trump. I don't think Pence would have destabilized our military presence as abruptly and bizarrely as Trump did, leading to Mattis and McGurk both feeling compelled to resign, which
- Even if that had happened, I don't think Pence would have put Mnuchin in a place of power, nor would he have flown into a rage/panic/meltdown and demanded something be done about the financial situation, about which looks like Mnuchin just royally screwed the pooch, and besides
- I think Pence is implicated in too much not to go down, too, or at least be heavily neutered. If Trump goes down, and Pence somehow by grace of god or devil does not, he's a neutered pony until 2020 elections, and then
- Here come the 2020 elections

Everyone is waiting for the right moment.

I despise Trump and think he’s a dangerously incompetent. That said, he’d a relatively contained danger. Better to have him ride out until 2020 and then have him gracefully decide to not pursue a second term - “to run his businesses”; “he accomplished everything he wanted to” - than impeachment. Our country is bitterly tribal and this will only worsen with impeachment. And the cultish base and right wing nuts only become more vicious and nutty.

It would feel good (feel great) to impeach him; it would not be good for us longer term. I do worry about civil war, especially with all of the gun-toting nuts who are part of the GOP now

The idea that it would be better to have a criminal mentally incompetent lunatic in a position of massive power for two more years because impeachment would not be “good for us longer term” strikes me as absurd. When do you think impeachment WOULD be necessary, pp?

Impeachment sparking civil war strikes me as far more dangerous than letting the man ride out with some grace. And there’s also the question of a Pence presidency, though arguably Pence is still sane - possibly.

Feels good man.

A personality disorder is not the same as a mental illness.

Trump will not ride out gracefully no matter what. He will make the same argument in the next campaign. He will threaten not to accept the results if he loses. Then we are at risk of civil war anyway.

There is no easy way out of this, so let's not look for one.

Labels aside he is incapacitated from effectively “presidenting”.

I read this talking point on another website. Do you get these directly from the Kremlin?

Yes. The sooner the better.

I guess it's a matter of definition, but personality disorders are listed in the DSM 5, which psychiatrists use to diagnose mental illnesses, so it seems that people who diagnose and treat mental illnesses think it's a mental illness.

Trump said this in an interview (he may also have tweeted it). It's a Russian talking point all over the internet designed to make non-Trump supporters fear there's a huge army of NRA members waiting to get out their AR-15s and riot in the streets, killing everyone in their path, if Trump gets impeached. (Fox is likely also pushing this imaginary scenario, although I don't watch Fox.)

It's a lie.

There will probably be a minority of Americans who will be upset if Trump is impeached. Some of the ultra right-wing will march and protest. But the rest of them will do nothing. This "civil war" crap is incendiary speech pushed by the Russian troll factory. Don't repeat it. Don't fall for it. Ignore it.

God help us, this is so true.
