25th amendment time: stop treating Trump's mental illness as a personality quirk

Anonymous
The instant trump is impeached or removed from office, millions of trump voters will pretend they didn’t vote for him. After WWII, my German grandfather said that no one ever admitted they’d voted for Hitler.

It is human nature to try to save face. No one will riot when trump is removed from office. There will be few whimpers even on Fox.

I'm going to screenshot some of the choice Trump-supporting facebook posts my ILs have made. They were pretty quiet about him today though.

I have to admit it is such a guilty pleasure seeing so many triggered liberals this worked up on Christmas. OMG, impeachment? Really? Maybe by the house but will never happen in the senate. Never. Much more likely, however is his re-election in 2020 and you guys losing your $hit even more. It will be glorious!

If the stock market, military and justice systems survive.

Just like in November, right?

My relatives who were Trump fans are sh**ting a brick over their 401 (k)s. A reeling economy will drive those away from Trump. That, and health insurance.

Those two issues are going to screw Trump good and hard. Add in a Florida environmental crisis, like continuing red tide and algae blooms in the center of the stage will upend things there.

But enjoy your delusions while they last.

Merry Christmas

They are - all classified in the DSM-V, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, aka Bible of psychiatrists.

I’ve been intrigued watching trumpsters’ breaking points with him. Of course I cannot know people’s private doubts, but I have seen their enthusiasm wane, I have seen armchair politicians go silent, I have seen hardcore anti choice Republican family members finally realize what they’ve been supporting... and switch to a Democratic Party affiliation.

Sorry, but I am not triggered. However, watching Trump flail as the market drops, his babysitters walk out, and Democrats call his bluff is my own guilty pleasure.

+1 All of the blubbering tweets about how he was alone on Xmas Eve gave me great pleasure.

Which would be to everyone's benefit: Democrats will be able to claim proudly that they were instrumental in ousting the President, and Republicans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief while not alienating their lunatic pro-Trump fringe.
Win-win.
And it's quite likely to happen, too!
It's why Pelosi and top Democrats are very stealth when it comes to impeachment, they don't want to spook everyone out before they strike. Let the base bay for blood, they're biding their time.

Everyone is waiting for the right moment.

I despise Trump and think he’s a dangerously incompetent. That said, he’d a relatively contained danger. Better to have him ride out until 2020 and then have him gracefully decide to not pursue a second term - “to run his businesses”; “he accomplished everything he wanted to” - than impeachment. Our country is bitterly tribal and this will only worsen with impeachment. And the cultish base and right wing nuts only become more vicious and nutty.

It would feel good (feel great) to impeach him; it would not be good for us longer term. I do worry about civil war, especially with all of the gun-toting nuts who are part of the GOP now

The idea that it would be better to have a criminal mentally incompetent lunatic in a position of massive power for two more years because impeachment would not be “good for us longer term” strikes me as absurd. When do you think impeachment WOULD be necessary, pp?

Impeachment sparking civil war strikes me as far more dangerous than letting the man ride out with some grace. And there’s also the question of a Pence presidency, though arguably Pence is still sane - possibly.

Trump will not ride out gracefully no matter what. He will make the same argument in the next campaign. He will threaten not to accept the results if he loses. Then we are at risk of civil war anyway.

There is no easy way out of this, so let's not look for one.

Natural causes, aided by a diet of Big Macs, is the best thing for the country. Until his fan club starts plotting Hillary’s movements, because clearly she snuck into the White House and gave him poison to mimic a heart attack.

Trump will finish his term. Pence will be elected for 2 terms. Trump began political disruption, and the Dems should do the same with their party nationally. They may then win the presidency.

Speaking of mental illness.

The worst combination is mental illness in people who are smart enough to be bitter about it and want everyone else to suffer like they do. Sad.
