Original PP back again.. Three blood tests make sense for an IVF where there is no corpus luteum and progesterone levels might need to be adjusted. But IUI? It’s an hour and a half of my day and more needle sticks. What would they even do with an unlikely bad third blood test? Order a fourth before an ultrasound to confirm it’s going sour? |
I'm the pp who was a bit ahead of the OP. My re did only 1 blood test and an u/s that showed a yolk and fetal pole at about 4w5d and decided he didnt even need a second blood draw. I have another u/s next monday when I should be 6w4d. He was willing to see me again sooner and draw blood if I wanted the peace of mind but I'm trying to just accept things will happen as they're going to happen. I've been on estrogen and progesterone supplements since the iui so there's not much else to do anyway, regardless. |

| Yes definitely get your thyroid checked immediately if you’re pregnant! With my first pregnancy (an unplanned pregnancy in my 20s), I called my midwife/OB immediately and they were like “oh hmm, can you come in next month or whenever?” Then, since I have auto immune hypothyroid, I called my endocrinologist - they wanted me to come in that same day. |
+2. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid with my first pregnancy. So glad my OB checked. I lost that pregnancy at 9w and the next one at 6.5w. I get my blood drawn for tsh now asap -- mine shot up from 1 to 6 by 4w2d, and I'd already taken an extra dose of synthroid upon getting my bfp at 3w4d. My endocrinologist wants 1x/ month checks, but my RE is happy to do it more often, which I appreciate, even though there's a bit of a lag between increasing dosage and seeing results. My RE thinks there may be a relationship between my hashimoto's and my DOR, as hashimoto's is autoimmune which *may* have attacked my ovaries. He's seen anecdotal relationships between hashimoto's and dor. |
