Anyone know about Laura Jane Cohen? (Springfield district candidate)

The obsession of the far right with bathrooms, and the false dichotomies they are always presenting (as if one can't care about both education and non-discrimination), are tiring.

Schultz chews up a lot of tremendous amount of air time, and accomplishes next to nothing. Springfield District residents should re-elect her if they want to remain isolated on the School Board. Otherwise, they need a new representative.

Truly they can't though. Ryan is a perfect example of this. What have they proposed that actually has to deal with curriculum?

Pat Hynes is on twitter almost every day always about some liberal cause or another. She hasn't had one meeting with constituents over an entire year nor sent any correspondence to them.

That would be Elizabeth Schultz. She has four boys and she’s plugged in closely.

Clearly you admire her. Other than having kids, can you point or any specific initiatives she’s led or supported? Ive only observed her to be an obstructionist.

Is the bolded statement code for not going along to get along? There is no false dichotomy - I care about both "bathroom" issues and education. There are enough democrats on the board to ensure things keep moving forward on the education front. Someone also needs to be the to put the breaks on the other agendas being pushed to our school children.

Last year I know she was trying to allow teachers to work over the summer to develop curriculum.

Obsession with bathrooms? If anyone is obsessed with bathrooms, it is the boys trying to use the girl's restrooms. "the right" isnt the one who started it.

Makes no sense why parties are even involved in school issues. Let people run on whatever platform they espouse and parents or citizens can vote for whomever is best for them.

Everything boils down to party.

For some reason this is what Elizabeth Schultz and her supporters always say even though she clearly campaigns with and for Republicans. She is most definitely a conservative tea party style board member. I do understand why no one wants to say they are a Republican now but it is what t is...

Where are the additional SROs already? More social workers and psychologists? For what? Stop with trying to be all to all people, FCPS. It’s SCHOOL already and it’s already run on a shoestring budget!

It’s not a shoestring budget at all but it would be bigger but for the likes of Schultz and her Tea Party friends.

Exactly! We live in one of the richest counties in the country. Our schools shouldn't be run on a shoestring budget at all. Let's advocate for more funding so that the kids with the big needs can be served. Do you like the idea that kids who need psychological help and interventions can't get it from our overworked and overstretched mental health professionals? I don't! The schools only have the resources and time to focus on disciplinary actions and not interventions. It simply exacerbates the problem and doesn't provide a long term solution for at-risk students (including those who are potentially harmful to themselves or others).

No more funding. Kids with big needs can be served in another setting. Stop with fixing everyone.

Newsflash - if we can’t serve the kid in FCPS, FCPS has to pay their private school tuition - that’s not a cheaper solution.

Good question. Why do we need all these additional professionals? We shouldn't be handing over money just because Fairfax county residents have it.

Fairfax has one of if not the highest real estate tax rates in the entire DMV. I think it's the highest.

whats the cause of needing all these mental health professionals all of a sudden?
