The languages and sciences are covered by IB courses. Not sure how many students enroll in any particular AP class. |
Seriously. I don't get the IB/AP drama on this forum. |
Not sure there's any drama, but if you want a school with lots of AP options, none of the IB schools in FCPS are going to meet your needs. |
If you are just interested in the AP exams to place out of college courses, you don't need to actually take the classes...you can just take the tests after the IB classes. |
That's true, although the pass rates on AP exams for students at IB-focused schools are lower. Overall, parents and students in this area seem to prefer AP for both content and college placement (the current trend among many universities is against rewarding credit for either AP or IB exam results). |
| General rule in FCPS - avoid the IB schools. You won’t regret it. |
Ignore this troll. Shows up every time IB mentioned. |

Lee HS pyramid parent here with 6th grader - we are interested in attending an IB school but discouraged hearing about students pupil placing out at Lee.
With only 6 AP classes, I'm wondering if Lee students can/are still able to pupil place out to Hayfield or WSHS? Based on above posts, Lee offers the most AP. |
The school has definitely slowed the pupil placements out, but theyh have not stopped completely. No pupil placements to WSHS because it is closed to transfers. Still lose some students to Lake Braddock, South County, Hayfield, and Edison - not sure what part of the regulation they use - could be language (curriculum), sibling, senior, FCPS employee, or social/emotional justification. |
