| Tomorrow. Next business day. |
| I’m not a fed and was expecting to sail into work today. Traffic was just as heavy as always, so I’m assuming lots had to report to work. |
what does this mean? |
I'm not. And that's the problem with these blanket statements that are being made. Each agency, and honestly each division within each agency has their own policies in place. This is what's causing the mass confusion. What bugs me most is that agencies did not have the foresight to have procedures in place. How idiotic to wait until the last minute to plan for a potential threat. Makes me wonder what other procedures are lacking in detail. I have grave concerns if something as basic as having procedures in place for a furlough can't even be carried out with efficiency. Even if you think a chance something will happen is slim to none, you should still make preparations each time as if it will. Managing 101 |
That means you go to work on Tuesday which, usually, comes after Monday. |
| What’s the problem with going into to work to get better guidance. All these questions about should I go in or not is really ridiculous. Just admit, you don’t want to go to work. |
how do you know someone will be there? |
NP but lots of people have hour commutes. You have to admit it's silly to drive an hour each way to just sign a furlough notice and change your voicemail. Plus, we aren't being paid, so what's the incentive. I want to go to work when there's actual work to be done. |
You will get paid for the 4 hours you have to come in. You will probably get paid for the rest. But I agree it is stupid to have someone schlepping in just to receive formal notice of the furlough. |
why would I go to work on tuesday if the government is shutdown? People are talking about going in today to do shutdown activities. |
Not a fed also and was expecting to sail to my son's school this morning, but nope. Same hot mess traffic. |
| Wow, my agency told us don’t report at all if there is a shutdown and when the government reopens, we will fill out our paperwork retroactively. Same as last time. Sucks that you guys all have to go in. |
You're quoting me - I meant "we're all" as in my whole organization. Not as in the whole government. |
I feel like that would work - I mean what about people who are on vacation this week. Obviously they will fill it in retroactively and it will be fine. We were told that we'd get an email this morning and be able to sign electronically -- but nada yet. Maybe they are thinking the noon vote is going to be a go. |
| So what is everyone doing at work for 4 hours? We signed our furlough notices, changed voicemails and emails, but have no clue what else to do. Senior management is all in DC right now and there's no one to ask. We aren't allowed to do any work. Do I have to stay for 4 hours? |
