Cause of Tom Petty's death: opioids

Anonymous
His death was less the result of taking too many opioids so much as it was a result of taking too many different things, resulting in a toxic mixture of opioids and benzodiazepines. That's what's causing a lot of these sudden deaths.

This.

They are pigs of people don't know how they sleep at night knowing they are responsible for so many deaths.

How are they responsible. They make them. They don't force their product into people. Why not vandalize stores that sell alcohol, stores that sell cigarettes, pharmacies that fill the prescriptions, doctor offices that prescribe them, homes where these people grow up that may have been dysfunctional, etc.

Exactly. Everyone should read about the Sackler Opioid Crisis. Google it.

I wonder if this is also how the Cranberries' singer Dolores O'Riodrans died. She was also suffering from back problems and had to cancel a recent tour.

I'm a nurse, they are passed out like candy to our Csection Moms. It is truly scary . Luckily, nurses are aware now and doctors so Rx home is for a sort term and some Moms are saying No to oxy for pain (or at least taking lowest dose available). Read up on the Navaho nations suing pharma for targeting them with opioids. It is pure greed and evil.

Me here, nope. Neither, but I have worked with addicts and have them in my family and can say no, I don't blame the makers any more than I blame Jack Daniels or liquor stores for alcoholism or advocate graffitiing the Hammer museum for the crack epidemic in the 90's or blame hypodermic needle makers for heroin, which is in the family of opioids. A common narrative of late is an injury lead to a prescription and it grew from there, but in reality what causes dependency is way more complex. I've heard addicts say if it had not been for their drug of choice, it would be something else. If not scotch, vodka. If not vodka, cocaine. If not cocaine, something else. Family and friends want answers and solutions and with pills to blame the maker is easy but it doesn't get to the heart of the addiction, which is often coupled with depression, environmental factors, family, the addict's coping mechanism or lack of, etc. and could also uncover enabling behavior that fuels an addict. There is always more to the story than is admitted and to believe if not for the presence of pill everything would be just fine with them is not true.

why would any legit dr prescribe fentanyl to a former heroine addict? that dr should love his license. I can't believe any dr prescribes this to anyone who isn't in hospice care.

Mr. Petty’s system showed traces of the drugs fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetyl fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl.

Fentanyl -opiod for pain

Oxycodone- opiod for pain

Temazepan- anti anxiety or insomnia

Alprazolam- Anti anxieta panic disorder (zanax)

Citalopram- anti depressant (celexa)

Acetyl fentanyl- unlicensed designer drug 15x more potent than morphine

Despropionyl Fentanyl- Unlicensed designer drug

a fucking Molotov cocktail, no wonder his body finally shut own. I guess to a point you could blame doctors, but I'll bet he had several different doctors, and neither one knew what the other was prescribing, since he probably never told them about what the others were prescribing or the illegal shit he was doing.

A rock star dies and has drugs in his system both legal and illegal. big surprise.

So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint
Let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I gotta go
And you don't know how it feels
No, you don't know how it feels to be me

self medicated, self induced

I agree it such a weird impulse to vilify these doctors while believing these rock stars have hearts of gold. Give me a break.

You can lead a redneck to water, but you can't make them stop taking opioids...

You're a liar. You're not a nurse. And no one is discharging c-section moms with fentanyl.

PEOPLE OF APPALACHIA: Stop taking drugs and blaming others for your "plight". Move to the western farm states and start picking lettuce you lazy sons of guns.
