They DO target areas and people. WKe up! Or you work for Big Pharma. Which means you are soulless. Enjoy that. Hell beckons.
Me here, nope. Neither, but I have worked with addicts and have them in my family and can say no, I don't blame the makers any more than I blame Jack Daniels or liquor stores for alcoholism or advocate graffitiing the Hammer museum for the crack epidemic in the 90's or blame hypodermic needle makers for heroin, which is in the family of opioids. A common narrative of late is an injury lead to a prescription and it grew from there, but in reality what causes dependency is way more complex. I've heard addicts say if it had not been for their drug of choice, it would be something else. If not scotch, vodka. If not vodka, cocaine. If not cocaine, something else. Family and friends want answers and solutions and with pills to blame the maker is easy but it doesn't get to the heart of the addiction, which is often coupled with depression, environmental factors, family, the addict's coping mechanism or lack of, etc. and could also uncover enabling behavior that fuels an addict. There is always more to the story than is admitted and to believe if not for the presence of pill everything would be just fine with them is not true.
