Mongolia.

Which means ATS could be next.

Merry Christmas!

You are seriously vile.

Guarantee it is some kid of an American born granola type who believes her googling all natural bs is superior to the CDC.

Hey, idiot f*ck face, you can get the mumps even if you're fully vaccinated.

Dear eloquent poster,
It’s not likely you will contract mumps after you’ve been vaccinated. If you do contract it, it shouldn’t be as severe.
Prolonged exposure can be problematic, even if vaccinated. it’s a SCEINCE school ,correct?
You’d think the population would be more likely to vaccinate...

Just STFU and stop throwing out your wacky theory. You have no idea what you're talking about. You obviously did NOT attend a science school since you have no clue about science!

^Also, turn off FoxNews and try a credible source.

Dear Princess charming...
Read your own articles. It’s about waning immunization. Not super relevant to elementary school populations.

The mumps vaccine is 88% effective, FF. It's just not as effective as other vaccines.

Idiot.

88% is plenty effective for the herd.
You need a healthier herd.

ASF has a large International population (State Dept., World Bank, etc). It is very diverse. Also, there is also a wealthy population that travels Internationally frequently as well.

Though, my guess is it was an entitled crunchy anti-vax yuppy or an immigrant.

My son’s pediatrician has seen several cases himself of fully vaccinated mostly college aged teens getting mumps.
We were discussing because DS had a severe reaction to his first MMR so he has never gotten a booster and we were checking his titers- which are off the charts high (saying, basically, that he’s had measles previously).

The anger on this board to asfs is insane. Only here would someone say something like "your child was exposed to a communicable disease, but haha that's due to the diversity that you guys value! Have a merry Christmas stressed out about your child's health!" The contrast between this thread and the McKinley stomach bug one is pretty sad.

News flash: if there's an outbreak of mumps in one school, it could easily happen at yours. This is a public school. People don't self select to go there anymore than people self select to live in Arlington period. And spare me the "those parents chose to live there because they wanted their kids to attend a good school" anger. Or the "it's a choice school" bs.

You get what you put out. I'll be sure to come back here and gloat when your school has an outbreak of norovirus or measles.

Older kids with waning immunization. Slightly different situation, but worrisome yes.

It's 2017. The year of Trump and his xenophobic a-hole supporters. They hate immigrants, diversity, education, and science -- so ASFS is at the top of their hate list.

Oh, please. The outbreak had to come from somewhere. An unvaccinated child does not catch mumps by himself.

Well, I realize this but their anger is misdirected at ASFS. Shouldn't they be mad at like Carlin Springs then?

Anyway, I hope the child is okay and that it doesn't spread. It could just as easily happen at any school in this area. We've traveled out of the country three times in the last five years, and plan to again this summer. We're hardly an exception in Arlington.

What's your point? That nobody should travel? Build a wall and never leave or let anyone else in? Go eat your mayonnaise casserole and STFU.

Why are you assuming the child wasn't vaccinated?

The point? You do realize (as PP mentioned) that there are kids who cannot be vaccinated? Is it unreasonable to be sure that kids are vaccinated before they come here? Seems like that if we require vaccinations for our own kids that we should require them for our newest residents and students.

Shouldn't you be spraypainting some racist words up at YHS? Today's your day off?
