| I had a friend who was raped twice in college at frat parties. Once it was by a group. These weren't STEM frats. |

This makes a lot of sense. And I think most women sense this on a deep level and that's why they always stay away from these men even at a young age. We can tell.
BTW, if you ever want to kill an afternoon, spend some time on the "Incel" subreddit. Man. Just a bunch of men OBSESSING over women to such an extent it's frightening. As a woman it has been very eye opening to me to see how central women and female "approval" is to the male existence... disturbing, quite frankly. |
The dudes are toxic and have to get past it some how, but when you're starving, of course you're going to obsess over food. I don't blame women at all for what assholes these guys are, but I'm not surprised that they obsessed. Also, I don't think it's female approval they *really* want if you get down to it. They care more about the status having a woman, particularly an attractive woman, gives men among other men. Toxic masculinity is bad for almost everyone. |
Pretty sure it's just women. Some of these men dont have many friends but they dont obsess about guys. They talk a lot about the biological imperative of feeling like you want to mate, and how only a woman can give them that- and I'm not entirely sure that's not true, as much as I would like to say it was. What it's taught me is that women think about men farrrrr less than men think about women. One of my best female friends is a virgin and she really doesnt care much about it. Sure, I think she's not happy about it, but she doesnt spend time thinking dark thoughts about men and how she's entitled to a man and how men should love her and men men men men men men men. In fact, I think it would be rare to find a single woman on earth who does that. And yet so many men do |
+1 It needs to change. |
It definitely is about pure sex some of the time. I think we need to acknowledge it, because we need to be able to address that. There are men out there who think "Well, I'm just really turned on, I'm trying to be mean/cruel". They aren't into the whole "girl is scared" thing, they just really, really want to have sex with her. So in their mind- well, it's not like they're some monster, power hungry rapist! The fact is many rapists are purely turned on and motivated by sex, and rape is the way to get that sex. We need to acknowledge that and teach men- it doesn't matter- it's still unacceptable. We don't have to villainize the motives because the act itself is abhorrent enough to merit our full disapproval and revulsion- REGARDLESS of motive. |

The OPs headline is a bit misleading. The article really doesn't say anything about "nerds."
I think it's been established that rapists are more likely to be "low status" males. The theory is that this behavior evolved because they were otherwise were less likely to reproduce. The thing about the "jocks and football heroes," is a bit misleading. Only a tiny percentage of men fall into those categories, so the fact that relatively few admitted to rape doesn't mean that these types do not rape. I do know that men who are in fraternities (generally from affluent, higher status backgrounds) are statistically two-to-three times as likely to commit sexual assault as non-affliated men. |
I agree. Search "rape convictions" and most of what you see are the Jock types, frat parties, football players, etc. Very few Nerd-types. |
That's just because nerds are so brilliant they never get caught. |
Testosterone is a bitch. |
Sure, whatever Columbo.. More than likely once the Nerd has made his money, hot chicks realizing that the jock they dated is a loser start throwing themselves at him. Nerd now has a line of such chicks waiting so rejects this one as too skanky. She cries Rape. That's a more likely scenario than actual rape. I don't think most of them have the balls to do it. |
Wow never heard of incel before. They have some serious issues on that site |
| But the "jocks and football players" also rape. There are dozens of rape scandals surrounding them, too. |
