Yes they do. They are kids.

My 13 yr boy also asked for a vineyard vines tshirt. I’m thinking that with khaki pants and vans? Maybe I’ll head to the outlet store in Leesburg or Nordstrom Rack? Not paying full price. He also wears a uniform to school.

At that age my son would wear jeans and a tee with a flannel unbutton over it.

I said "male equivalent" - i.e. for people who prioritize comfort over appearance. Do people seriously wear sweats out of the house when not exercising? I'm 34, not 94, and no one with whom I socialized growing up did this. It sounds unattractive and sloppy.

You clearly don't have a high schooler.
All I see High schol girls in lately is baggy sweatpants and college or sport sweatshirts with uggs or moccasins.

You sound extremely prissy. Of course people wear sweats, athletic clothes, yoga pants, etc. outside the house.

I'm wondering if PP lives under a rock?

Np: "Prissy" is the perfect word to describe the PP.

Around here (MA) they wear khaki pants, Timberlands, Vineyard vines button down shirts and Shepshirts.

Obviously at 34 I don't have a high schooler. Where do you see these kids dressed like this? It's one thing to wear clothing like that after practice or for lounging around the house, but it's extremely unattractive out in public, and seems odd for an urban environment. I grew up in rural New England and townie kids dressed like that, but none of my friends from boarding school would have dressed like that to go out and do things (eating out, meeting for a movie, etc.). They didn't look like Gossip Girl extras or anything, but jeans/cords and button downs/sweaters were more the norm. You know, actual clothes. The few high schoolers that I know now don't dress like that either.

You are on the wrong board.

^^ Agree with above poster. You sound really out of touch with current tween generation.

This. If we are lucky it is clean. If we are very lucky he is wearing deodorant. But sometime we rrreeeotlucy or very lucky. *sigh.

Seems like if your kid is old enough to be interested in girls, he is old enough to tell you what he wants to wear.
These kind of comments are interesting to me. Why do we not insist on proper hygene for our boys. Would you be ok with your dd having stinky armpits and wearing dirty clothes?

My 8th grader isn't there yet. But, his older brother in HS and friends wear Khakis, non-graphic t-shirts of various colors, some button down shirts and either top-siders or vans for shoes. I'd probably start there. Old Navy is a good source of cheap versions of this sort of wardrobe as they're growing so fast at this age.

I only have daughters and the oldest is 12yo/6th grade, but for years I’ve noticed that the boys wear Under Armour at all times. Some “sporty” girls do the same. If you are still dressing your 4yo DD in Tea Collection and Mini Boden, you are on the wrong board and you are in for a serious shock!

Mine wears clothes from Vineyard Vines, American Eagle, Hollister, and H&M. I just measure him to get sizing and then let him shop online. AE & Hollister have a decent selection on sale/clearance right now.
