Athletic clothes are adidas/Nike/under armor sweats, shorts, hoodies, Ts. Not lulu lemon come on!
I said "male equivalent" - i.e. for people who prioritize comfort over appearance. Do people seriously wear sweats out of the house when not exercising? I'm 34, not 94, and no one with whom I socialized growing up did this. It sounds unattractive and sloppy.
You clearly don't have a high schooler. All I see High schol girls in lately is baggy sweatpants and college or sport sweatshirts with uggs or moccasins.
Obviously at 34 I don't have a high schooler. Where do you see these kids dressed like this? It's one thing to wear clothing like that after practice or for lounging around the house, but it's extremely unattractive out in public, and seems odd for an urban environment. I grew up in rural New England and townie kids dressed like that, but none of my friends from boarding school would have dressed like that to go out and do things (eating out, meeting for a movie, etc.). They didn't look like Gossip Girl extras or anything, but jeans/cords and button downs/sweaters were more the norm. You know, actual clothes. The few high schoolers that I know now don't dress like that either.
