Competition against Nadeau!

I am praying Nadeau loses. She is useless! Her goal seems to be promoting her own social justice goals instead of addressing the practical needs of her voters.

Unfortunately the other candidates running against her are likely to lose because they really don't have any understanding of the issues and are having trouble differentiating themselves from her. They're as lost as she is. Vanilla vs. French Vanilla.

Nadeau is a member of the committee on government operations that ensures your tax dollars are spent wisely.

You can't make this up people.

Yet another announced candidate against Nadeau. Obviously people are unhappy.

Im kind of confused? Who is running for Ward 1 city council Nadeau or her child because all I ever see are pictures of the kid at various campaign events? She's working this angle to death but when you've got no record to run on I guess you want to try and divert the attention of your voters as much as you possibly can.

Why do people act so surprised? She ran on a social justice platform. If people didn't like her "agenda" (too immigrant and LGBTQ friendly for you?), then how did she get elected?

Anyway, I feel she's pretty much what I expected. Perfect? No. But she's committed to all of Ward 1 and is the only candidate, so far, with experience across the entire ward and it's diverse constituents.

My primary concerns are education, Latino and Immigrant issues, liberal social justice stuff, and housing. I haven't seen anything from the others that convinces me they'd have more to offer than Brianne in these areas.

Living in Ward 1 for 10+ years or being born here should not be the primary value of a candidate.

Competition is a good thing. Let's hope there's some serious alternatives and not viral social media gimmicks.

Naduea has failed in constituent services. I didn't vote for her to be the antidote to a republican congress. We need to her to address crime, especially getting smarter on juvenile crime.

This. I am voting for Kent. He is my ANC commissioner and his constituent services are incredible.

Constituent services are nice but the truth of the matter is that there are other people to fill potholes. If you constantly have to call your DC Council member to get anything done they we have other issues. They should be big picture budget issue orientated but find themselves attending to the small stuff because that's what the voters understand. Your average voter doesn't have the slightest understanding of the DC budget and so there really isn't any reason for anyone, the mayor or any other the council members to pay too much attention to it.

That said, the people in Ward 7/8 don't have a functional hospital, doesn't Nadeau chair that committee?

Very few voters actually elected Nadeau. Apathy won again and she beat a candidate (Jim Graham) that had serious ethical issues. Brianne talks a good game but she'll continue to address and talk and you'll feel good about that and either A. Demographic changes cure your problems or B. You'll wake-up a decade from now with the same issues. Good luck.

All she cares about is affordable housing. Sucks for you.

Affordable housing? You mean providing developers tax payer funded deals to create affordable housing that won't be occupied by the intended demographic?

They don't necessarily need a hosptial. they need more urgent care facilities though. DC has more hospital beds per capita than any city in the US.

Can anyone provide examples of constituent services she's ignored? Or specific things you think other candidates can do better?

So far, I'm satisfied with her. I like that she trolled Jason Chaffetz. He sucked.
