This.

This is OP. I was 112 and a size zero and really didn't look great at all. Looking at my photos I was really skeletal. I think for my particular body type I need to be a little heavier to not look sick, maybe 118 or 120. I'm going to begin with a goal of 130.

That's because PP's "rule of thumb" is BS. Find the weight you look and feel best in. The medical guidelines for healthy weight give you some latitude.

It's not BS. It's a pretty reasonable ballpark for most people.

I think I look best at when I am at 118-120. I was 115 when I got married, and I think I look too thin in those pics.

She asked for ideal. Not "the highest I can go and still call myself relatively thin."

I'm almost 5'3" and a muscular build- 130 lbs is my goal weight. It's not possible for me to be thinner than that and still be healthy. At 130 I'm a size 2 or 4.

(I'm currently six weeks postpartum and mightily struggling with losing the baby weight so I would love to be down to 130 right now- my goal is 135 by the end of summer.)

You women are too fat!! Keep it down to 110-115 lb

I'm 135lbs and know I'm 10 pounds too heavy... have been for the last 18 years since having kids. I am fairly toned and fit, so look o.k. (but a little heavy).

I think it's pretty close for smaller boned people. For medium boned, add 5-10 pounds; for large boned, add another 5-10 pounds. I'm taller at 5'6" and medium build. I look best at 135, and gaunt at 125.

I'm 5'3" and when I wore a size 4 I looked my best at 125 lb. I could get to 122 lb and look great too, but no lower. Post IVF and baby I'm 140 lb so trying to get back to 125 lb to start.

5'3 and a half and I'm about 135. would love to be 130, ideally. I like curvy and muscular, but need to work on my abs.

My DD is 5'3" and has a chronic immune disease. The doctor has told her 125 is ideal for her. If it is much more it will put pressure on her joints, much less and she risks osteoporosis.

Unfortunately, she is still struggling to get her weight out of double digits.

I aim to stay under 120. Got down to 116 in my 40s and looked haggard.

130 and 5'3 isn't thin. The problem is that it's considered thin in the US bc we are a nation of fatties.

I'd rather be fit than thin.

What functional value does being thin have? Some arbitrary number? I'd rather be physically capable - to run, to lift, to move, to do actual things with my body.

Well, I'll be the resident fatty for this thread. I am currently in the 160s and just shy of 5'3. It is my heaviest, I am currently wearing an 8. I'm much happier in a 6. For me, 130-135 was ideal, but I haven't been there since college. I looked pretty thin at 130 lbs. I guess I'm just dense?

I'm comfortably a size 6 at 128. 120-125 would probably be a size 4.
