Where does it say it helped me? |
| I've never sought out a psychic, but my mom and I were pulled aside by one as we were walking around the city. She talked about a situation our family was going through, with some pretty unique details then just walked away. It was bizarre. I don't really believe in psychics still, but I must admit that spooked me a little. |
| My brother had a psychic/medium come up to him on the street with a message from our deceased father. Some details were really unique. A cousin had earlier sought out a psychic and she, too, received a message from my dad. He'd died suddenly so I could see where maybe he felt he had more to us. I'm not sure I'd ever seek out a psychic though it's comforting thinking he's watching over and trying to send signals to us. |
so it didn't help you? What effect did it have? |
NP here. What's the point of your question? |
curiousity. What's the point of yours? |
Because like the PP, I wondered what your problem was. You realize there's a big difference between a skeptic and a cynic, right? The PP explained how the psychic's information was proven accurate to her. That qualifies as a "cool/creepy experience" as per the OP's request and that's all the PP really had to say for it to be a valid psychic experience. And frankly, I'm amazed that your response to someone receiving accurate information about her dead parents is a disrespectful, "How did this help you?" as if something more needs to be proven for it to be useful or interesting psychic reading. It is not PP's job to repeatedly justify her experience with the psychic until it's "proven enough" to you. |
| Um, OP asked for "cool and creepy" not whether something helped or did not help. |
+1 |
That is the silliest, stupidest thing ever. |
Wow, that was such a rational response. You've convinced us! |
So, you really believe that Paul Anka's cousin is able to "channel" an extraterrestrial entity named "Bashar" who talks in a really funny voice about how he doesn't exist in time and other nonsense? Oh, and by the way, you can watch him do it for the low low price of $99! LOL I have some beautiful coastal property in Oklahoma I could sell you. |
Right. Because the only reality that is real is the one we perceive with our physical sense. Read "The Science Delusion" by Rupert Sheldrake. Skeptics are questioning but open-minded, while cynics have completely shut out any possibility of possibilities. And it's also clear that you actually didn't listen to the whole interview, because both Darryl and the host discuss that the entity being channeled isn't an "extraterrestrial" in the traditional sense, as in he doesn't exist in the physical world of matter, time and space. They're discussing an astral being, from what Carl Jung calls "the collective unconscious" and what shamanic traditions refer to as "the spirit world". I also don't even get why the money is something to discuss as evidence of "Fraud". Do you not charge money for whatever work you do, assuming you don't live in your mom's basement? As William Stillman said when he was asked shouldn't psychics just do free work: "No. Like you, we have channeled our God-given gifts and talents into a field that intrigues and interests us. And also because we need to eat too. Would you be willing to receive no compensation for your job? Many of us do gratis work as we are able to but, like you, we’re just trying to make a living doing what we know how to do. Please know that most of us set rates that are competitively priced but also fair and reasonable." And really, $99 is actually a "low low price". For someone with his skill level in any other field, $150-$200 per hour would be the reasonable rate. |

I recommend reading this article, "The Sacred Craft of Divination: It's Not a Parlor Trick!"
http://www.patheos.com/Resources/Additional-Resources/Sacred-Craft-of-Divination It's written by a female shaman who discusses what happened when she helped out a less experienced friend at a psychic fair, charging $25 for her services. This excerpt is useful:
