Panera Bread is gross

What do you like to eat out instead? Or do you prefer to homecook all your meals from scratch with only organic ingredients?

If you knew me you would laugh how ridiculous that is. I'm not picky at all. I like plenty of places – Chopt, Cava etc. but Panera is revolting. The salads are so gross and the sandwiches are literally a piece of deli meat slapped on a piece of white bread.

If you believe that's literally true, I imagine you don't eat there often.

Also, what does one expect a sandwich with deli meat to look like from a fast casual restaurant? It's deli meat on bread. That's what a sandwich is.

I went into Panera once, when I was in the middle of a million errands and just wanted to get something to eat.

The process was so confusing and the options so unappealing I walked out. Bought an apple and some cheese at Target.

It's good for what it is. A place to work, use WiFi, and have coffee / pastry or lunch. I've used it several times for work catering and have been happy with it. I wouldn't choose to go there other and those reasons.

Agreed! It's pretty awful.

Add me to the hate it pile.

It's across the street from my office and I do go there. Never mind. You love it, I get it. I do not.

same here. Not picky at all, but absolutely hate meals at Panera (what they call bagels are fine and baked goods are also fine). Every time I get stuck meeting someone there I walk out disappointed and wanting to vomit.

I feel like they're always dirty now. Didn't used to feel like that to me. Now I dread them.

I eat at them, but the food used to be better. They keep adding New! things to the menu and replacing things I liked, but the new stuff isn't as good.

Their cinnamon crunch bagels are awesome

Well I think Chipotle is gross. Went once and never went back. I suppose that's thread-worthy too?

I last had Panera about 15 years ago, and it was not very good then. Tastes like airplane food, very bland, with the same weird underlying overprocessed flavor to everything. I can't imagine it's improved.

I really find the defensiveness of Panera fans amusing. Are you all related to the founder or something?

The one af Wheaton Plaza is the the best - good food, great customer service. Very popular so they run out of seats.

In general I wish they'd take some salt out of the food otherwise it's good.
