Panera Bread is gross

It has improved - they took the chemicals out.

Add me to the column of people who don't get the appeal. I've given it a fair shake, too, but... meh.

It has always been bad.

That's my point. It's microwaved/heated up crap. AND it doesn't taste good. And the interiors are McDonald's tier -- the plastic plates and junky silverware gross me out. AND it's expensive! There is zero appeal.

I really find the defensiveness of Panera fans amusing. Are you all related to the founder or something?

They are very popular and a lot of enjoy eating there. I find it odd to start a thread about a restaurant chain you don't like. That's weirder than defending a place you actually do like.

I find it fascinating UMC folks go there is all. It's basically Applebees with better marketing. I'd bet most Panera clientele consider Applebees white trash / ghetto.

I was recently at a business lunch and the gluten free option was a salad with a cookie and bread.

To be fair, I wouldn't necessarily expect a ton of gluten free options at a place that is literally named after bread.

In general I wish they'd take some salt out of the food otherwise it's good.

I went to the Wheaton one for coffee and there were three roaches on the coffee cream and sugar counter. Repulsive!

Why do people even go there?

Except that other people got potato chips and apples, which are both gluten free in a very obvious way.

So you were able to sample the entire menu once 15 years ago?

I agree. It was the most convenient place for lunch and I had to throw out several sandwiches they were so gross.
