Bowser is the worst mayor we've had since Pratt-Kelly. Sad!!!

I live across the river in Arlington. I don't see how she's that bad. Yeah, crime might be up, but there are so many contributing factors to that. I don't see how you pin that on her.
What's everyone's beef?

Side note: Marion Barry wasn't elected because he was black. He was elected again and again because he was insanely charismatic. Give the man his due.

And he had been heavily involved in the civil rights movement with King etc. No matter what he turned into, he started out with a lot of promise and many people supported him because of that. But why bring up history and facts here, it's easier to be racist and wrong.

To be fair, many on here were little during the 80's. Their view of Barry and the district are swayed by that. But yeah. History is a good thing to learn! For real.

All I can think about is that proposal they had where they wanted to pay violent criminals each $1000 or whatever it was a month not to murder someone. That was when I knew the Left had lost its last marble.

Yikes. You remind me of my grand jury duty for violent crimes a few years ago. Some days I couldn't decide if it was the cases or the people in the jury that were more depressing.

I agree that Bowser is terrible, but anyone comparing today's DC to what it was in the 90s doesn't know what they're talking about. The choices in the 2014 election were really awful, but I don't think she's done as much damage as Catania would have.

Mostly because Bowser is transparently dumb.

Nothing else is working and there's data showing that the Office of Neighborhood Safety program was effective. It's well past time to try something different.

Maybe the courts in DC should actually prosecute these people instead of giving even violent offenders a slap on the wrist? Especially juvies who go on to commit violent offenses, there's no reforming these thugs. I thought my home state of CA but this city takes the cake when it comes to the revolving door that is the justice system here.
