| I sent it to a W-L teacher who had no idea this was being proposed. |
|
Almost 100people signed in less than 24 hours! At the capacity forum last night nearly the entire room stood up in favor of Kenmore (40+ people).
A few other interesting takeaways from the capacity meeting: - Kenmore will be built on - if not now, in the future - we have no other sites that big that have so much space - The Virginia Hospital Carlin Springs property will be built on - either it will get a school, some County building OR a developer will buy it. If I lived in Glen Carlin, I would rather have a school than major development. At least you get green space and a play ground! |
| I sent to my neighbors with preschool age kids and six of them signed in addition to me. Let's keep it going folks, send this to your friends and neighbors! |
Arlington Education Matters FB group? Any members? please share. |
Someone put it on yesterday. |
| Over 100 now! |
| I sent it to ARLNOW. More people should send it over. That's the fastest way for it to gain traction. |
Just sent. I also plan to send it to my neighborhood listserv (our neighborhood is zoned for W-L, so I imagine that a huge school would make property values plummet). |
| Bump to top |
| 126 signatures. How many do you think it needs before the board takes it seriously? |
|
I think over 500. The asfs petition saying it should stay a choice school have 120 and I sure as hell hope the school
board doesn't take that one seriously! |
Boy what a bunch of assholes. I'll have to check it out see who signed. |
I looked at the comments on that one and it seems there is a whole lot of misinformation regarding that change. A bunch of the comments were about 'don't eliminate this wonderful STEM program!" This policy change has nothing to do with eliminating STEM at ASFS. Or "we should be able to walk to ASFS" - the only way to make that happen is to go along with the change to make Key exclusively a choice school and redraw boundaries to make ASFS a neighborhood school. So, basically people are signing a petition that goes AGAINST what they want or has nothing to do with their concerns. |
They don't seem to realize it yet, but making Key solely a choice school means boundary redistricting between Taylor, ASFS, Jamestown, and probably Discovery since it's under capacity. |
Is that what it said? |
