| The girl that killed herself seemed like a semi well adjusted teen. I think it didn't make sense that she killed herself. |
| Every time someone says the character Hannah seemed 'well-adjusted' I translate it to "skinny white conventionally attractive suburban middle class girl". |

I'm only on the 4th episode, but I agree. It just doesn't sound plausible yet, though maybe it will make more sense as I watch the other episodes. Also - I had completely thought Alex was gay, and now it turns out he's not? I also find it completely implausible that he would be accepted by the jock guys. He's the artsy, slender, sensitive type that they would typically shun. |
There's a reason he's accepted (to keep him quiet). Also, Alex and Justin Foley are both gay in real life and are DATING! I also thought Alex was gay in the show until they had him date Jessica. |
| It just made me terrified for my kids to grow up - the issues kids deal with in high school. Ugh. |
Working through things doesn't mean you necessarily want them in your face at all times. Likewise, a trigger warning is not saying that something shouldn't be viewed or discussed, just a warning to people that there is sensitive material in it. It's hardly a new concept--for years episodes have added messages at the beginning if they're tackling a topic that "might not be suitable for all viewers." So PP finds it a tough show to watch--how does her saying that impinge on you at all? |
+1 I know he's gay IRL, but if he's supposed to be straight on the show, you'd think they would have found a less obviously gay guy to play him. It just doesn't add up at all when I see him with Jessica. |

I think they wanted the surprise value of this plot development, just as it was a surprise for Hannah. There's another surprise along these lines coming down the road. The two guys make a cute couple! |
| Just finished watching it last night. The last episode broke my heart, I cried. I loved the extra interviews afterwards. |
| I'm on episode 2 and don't get it. Is it supposed to be a dark mystery or like a soap opera type show? I just don't get its direction |
Just watch it to the end. It's not a big time commitment and ultimately, I could see schools using parts of this to spur dialogue in appropriate settings. |
