I'm only on the 4th episode, but I agree.  It just doesn't sound plausible yet, though maybe it will make more sense as I watch the other episodes.

There's a reason he's accepted (to keep him quiet).   Also, Alex and Justin Foley are both gay in real life and are DATING!

I know he's gay IRL, but if he's supposed to be straight on the show, you'd think they would have found a less obviously gay guy to play him.  It just doesn't add up at all when I see him with Jessica.  [/quote]

I think they wanted the surprise value of this plot development, just as it was a surprise for Hannah. There's another surprise along these lines coming down the road.
