NOVA Stats for spring '17 UVA, W & M & Tech acceptances (or not)

Sorry, I don't agree. There are plenty of NoVA kids at W&M and UVA (dozens headed to UVA from my DS's high school). Relative to other parts of the state, NoVA kids are already at an advantage--generally better schools, higher incomes, higher educational levels among adults, more opportunities. I'm in favor of spreading the wealth around, so to speak, and I am glad that opportunities are given to kids in other parts of the state.

You are wrong. In my child's class of 2020, there are many counties that send zero or one student to UVA. Scroll down to "admissions by municipality" and put the cursor on the counties in the south and west of the state. http://digital.uvamagazine.org/articles/2020-insight/

What would be an acceptable NOVA acceptance rate for you? UVA and W&M already accept over 100 kids per year at my DS' FCPS high school, out of a total of about 240 applications. These NOVA kids are being admitted at a rate that exceeds the overall acceptance rates for these schools. I'm not sure why you feel personally victimized by the presence of a small percentage of central Virginians in the student body.

TJ is sending almost 150 kids to UVA, WM or VT Engineering. 2017 acceptance numbers aren't out yet, but usually 1/2 to 1/3 of acceptances attend. (There will be some overlap in acceptances).
