Whites at Berkeley blocked from crossing a bridge

PP who asked the question.

Thanks. Why aren't all universities like this?

Looks like URMs prefer to go back to the days of "separate but equal." Wasn't that the very thing their grandparents fought against?

If you want to be an agitator, leave the university and agitate elsewhere.

Your stats wouldn't get you anywhere near Berkeley.

But NVCC with a transfer to UVA and s an option.

That's like saying all whites prefer Donald Trump's train of thought that all immigrant Mexicans are rapists and drug dealers. There were many black kids who also decided to walk around instead of through the blockade.

Stop being naive. Just as URMS don't all look alike neither do all think alike.

Do you know anything about Berkeley? The history of student activism there is a big part of its appeal to many students. That and it's ranked 10th worldwide among universities, at least by some measures.

Yup. And when did the rather unacceptable term "colored people" become the very P.C. "persons of color"?!

Persons of color is inclusive of non-whites, not just African-Americans. Do you people ever read?

That's not what they fought against because separate but equal was never the reality.

It's like when those sit-ins were happening at princeton - you know the vast majority of those never had to take a class in Fine or Jadwin.

Schools deserve what they get for not following the caltech model of admissions. You never hear of these things happening there - for a reason.

Because Muffy and Buffy at Cottage were admitted purely on merit -- not their 4 generation legacy status.

I feel sympathy for black youth who were raised on the stories of black civil rights action under MLK Jr. etc. I understand that they want to make their own mark for freedom and equality. That said, I think they're making things worse with this "safe spaces" idea. Segregation is not the answer.

Where were the campus police and administrators and why were they not protecting the rights of the white and Asian students to cross the campus without walking through a creek?

It really does not surprise me any more that Trump is considered electable. We are heading towards a civil war and these fucking idiot college students will have just as much to do with the inevitable mayhem as any group of white supremacists in Kansas.

Interesting reading the comments here when the article states the protest was led by transgender and nonwhite students.

Of course. Just wait until we are no longer the majority! Move while you can.
