| You won't necessarily need them and hopefully you won't. You'll see how you feel after delivery. |
| I tore with all my deliveries and I didn't need ice after a couple of days. But I totally agree with PP that you should take the time to do the sitz bath. |
| The ice packs from the hospital were great. I just made sure I had a ton to take home with me. |
| It's like any injury, you ice initially but move on to moist heat for healing. Prolonged icing will not help you heal, it'll slow everything down. Ice is only recommended for the first 24 hours (36 hours max.) Then you should switch to heat which increases blood flow and speeds up healing. That's what the sitz bath is for. So I would skip the hassle of making these. Use the ice packs at the hospital and learn how to do a sitz bath. Use the tucks pads on top of your pad as needed. |

I used them I'm the hospital (they gave me like 15) but they were only useful for like 2 days. I left the extras at the hospital when I left.
Why would you mak your own?! |

I had a 4th degree tear. I used ice for maybe the first week? Maybe. It was useful when I'd get sore from doing too much. But honestly, having a huge ice pad between your legs isn't that comfortable and you don't need ice endlessly, just here or there for 10-15 minutes.
So while I could see these being helpful the first few days home, I just used the ice packs from the hospital and then a few frozen maxis at home and then moved on. As others have said, if you have tearing the sitz bath is SO KEY. |
Because I used them for longer. It just felt so good! I'd put one on before a nursing session and lounge for a bit. Ahhh. |
| OP here - thanks for the feedback. Since the supplies are cheap I think I will make up a dozen or so to have on hand. Hopefully I won't need them but I am super worried about tearing and then having extended discomfort. |
| 2 babies. Both times I used them in the hospital and for a couple of days at home. I only used the ones from the hospital. Never made them and didn't need more when they ran out. |
| I brought home enough from GW. No need to make any. |
Yes sitz baths were great! |
+1 to all of this. |
