Apparently, the illegals think that since Obama has protected them from deportation, they are also entitled to be admitted to our state schools (and at the in-state rate, too). And before you liberals jump to their defense, remember that for every law-breaking immigrsnt who gets in, a law-abiding American student gets kept out. I for one would like to see preference given to our OWN citizens, and not people who are in this country illegally.

OP, it is totally ridiculous. If high school students have the grades to be accepted, then they've been in this country for years, since they were very young, going to US schools, acting like Americans.

We need to act, not just put it off. We need to either normalize their status (which Obama attempted to do), or deport all of them. If you're in favor of deportation, then you need to start making phone calls, writing letters. Even Trump has realized that deportation is infeasible and a bad idea, sending all of these college bound students out of our country, generating ill will, harming them for actions undertaken by their parents and for actions not undertaken by our government.

You forgot to mention the average hard-working American families who can barely afford college for their own children but will be footing the bill; however, I'm sure you were thinking of them.

I went to state school on loans, like most people. My parents didn't pay for my college.

What hard working American families are you referring to?

Those who are working hard, staying out of trouble and trying to keep their jobs, giving back to their communities, trying to raise kind and law-abiding children, and trying to save enough money after taxes to help their children go to college----those hard-working American families.

If Obama wants to scholarship all of these students using the millions he will get from speaking and book tours once he leaves office, more power to him.

But not on the taxpayers' dime.

If you went to a state college, your parents did pay their taxes that go to the state college funding.

According to the Democrats, these people are a massive benefit to the US. If you look at it that way, we're doing a favor to their home countries by sending them back. Why shouldn't these countries be allowed to reap the benefits of their own citizens? Just imagine how much better their home countries will be!

They want to go to U. Georgia because UG and the State of Georgia has the Hope program where the tuition and room & board is practically free for residents.

If it's free for residents, that means taxpayers are footing the bill. And that's why Georgia requires students to be lawful residents. So instead of being thankful that they are not being deported, despite their illegal status, now they're demanding admission to a college that American citizens will fund?

Well, you have 2 choices. You could support undocumented students to go to school, or they could be robbing you. Don't you think an educated society is a better one?

So you are saying that people without a college degree are criminals? What a liberal snob!

P.S. And stop with the "undocumented" liberal PC language. They are here illegally.

Wow. They can afford college with access to only low paying jobs. Sounds like they know more about economics than Americans.

They do. When you work under the table and you don't pay taxes, you take home more money. When you double up on housing, you save money. When you don't eat out, you save money. When you qualify for free lunch, free summer tuition, etc. and go to free health clinics, you save money. And when you qualify for financial aid, you save money. Your only barrier becomes your illegal status.

^ Also, many of them make more than you think.

Exactly. Some housekeepers and nannies get $25+ per hour.
