Poor Communication from New School

What grade? If it's not an entry year or younger grade they may not have a get-together.

I think everybody is recovering from the school year that just ended. I am sure you will hear from the school by early August.

OP, I don't know where you get your expectations from, but they are definitely excessive. Chill out!

You sound neurotic and high maintenance -- probably none impression you want to give the staff at your new school.

Again, what school? Someone here could actually help you

+1 it makes me uneasy reading your post. Chill!

I agree that it's early but I also don't think you're being crazy OP. It doesn't seem like you're asking to have the school set up the play date, just to have names and emails or a mentor family to reach out. I'm not sure what school but I see no harm in calling admissions to request that. They might tell you the name and contact info for the mentor family or offer to check in with them to see when they plan to connect. Another idea is to get some names of other girls joining the class in the fall - they are likely wanting to connect over the summer too. She will be fine! Good luck!

Happened to us- you will feel better once school starts.

You're not crazy OP. Some schools are more communicative that others. We don't have a class list yet, but we've had an event and summer reading list so far. I don't think calling for a class list is unreasonable if you want to set up play dates.

OP, doesn't your child already have friends to play with? She'll make friends in her new school as soon as the academic year begins. Let everyone do her own summer thing until then.

I believe OP is referring to The New School in Nova.

Maybe you made a mistake and you didn't really get admitted. You should check in with the school every day until school starts.

If you believe that, because OP capitalized "New School" in the thread's title, note that she also capitalized "Poor Communication." I'd bet she was just capitalizing the words "new school," not referring to a particular institution named "New School," which btw was evidently not named by a trademark attorney.

All these harsh critics! Our child is starting 9th at a new school in September and has been contacted by 2 different student "buddies" at the school to arrange gatherings over the summer. Don't know if this is typical or not, but it is definitely appreciated by our child who is thankful to meet some classmates before school begins.

It would help a lot if you would/could tell us the school and the grade.
