What school would you pick if you can't afford Marshall?

I was going to suggest this. There are also some subdivisions tucked off of electric near gallows that have SFH going for less than 650k. You used to be able to find sub-600 in this area and even town of Vienna, but I think those days are over unless it's a tear down.

But, I would have no issues sending my kids to Woodson, south lakes, or fairfax hs.

+1 people here thing McLean and Langley are the only schools worth sending your kids to and you should rent a tiny one bedroom apartment in order to send your kids there rather than buy a smaller house or worse, let your kids go to school with an ~immigrant~. Do your due diligence and honestly, try to find people to talk to in some of the neighborhoods in question and see how they like their schools and neighborhoods.

It is good that they are so insistent upon getting into those limited school pyramids because it allows many of the rest of them to continue doing so many things right.

Great educational value for the $ is West Springfield. (Which really isn't any different than Lee in terms of beltway or 395 access). Want top notch with all the academic bells and whistles, Chantilly is outstanding.

I should clarify - we are looking for a house as nice or slightly nicer than the one we already have, with a yard that isn't a cliff/nonexistent and want to be in either rolling valley or west springfield as we will NOT buy in keene mill due to a bad experience with our current neighborhood school being an aap center.

Rolling Valley is in West Springfield. Many of the houses listed above are in W. Springfield. I saw one in Rolling Valley that feeds into Hunt Valley ES/Irving/WSHS.
