I do. 18 year olds are stupid.
My DH has some unfortunate tattoos as well though, so I like to think we're well-matched. We've talked about getting them removed, but since no one sees them but us, it's not a priority. |
| Better a tramp stamp than a Trump stump. |
Yes. And when men get tattoos between their shoulder blades, it's called a bro banner. |
| No, never will either. I find tattoos trashy especially on women. |
| Saw a woman bent over tying her shoes and she had three dolphins on the small of her back. Looked like they were jumpping out off her butt crack. |
| I have one, unfortunately. Got it at the tender age of 16. 16 year olds should not get tattoos. Or drive, for that matter. |
| I have one, and I don't really care what anyone calls it or thinks of it. I don't make a habit of walking around naked, and I haven't worn a two piece bathing suit since like 2002. |
| So.. If it's for only those who are sexing you up from behind, is it meaningful to the person? Like...do you put something there that is what someone humping you would want to stare at? Confused. |
| Only women with small of the back tattoos are having lots of sex? So much they get shamed for it? Sounds like I missed an opportunity here. |
| I guess it's a good call I didn't put Calvin and Hobbes there. That might have been weird. |
| My back tattoos are on my back because the skin there is less prone to stretching and aging than other parts, and they can be easily covered up for, for example, the workplace. The piece on my shoulder blade is especially meaningful, and it was very touching when my wedding photographer did a series of shots featuring it (it was very obvious with my strapless dress), because it commemorates my grandparents. I can see it--and my other back pieces--when I look in the mirror. |
I have a tattoo on the nape of my neck, a symbol in honor of one of my children, who died very young. I chose that spot because it is shown or hidden by my hair, whichever I choose. I don't need to see it myself because I carry her in my heart. |
I don't see where anyone said it was "for" anyone. I got the tattoo on my lower back when I was 19, and it was very much for me. I drew it and then worked with the tattoo artist to turn it into a tattoo stencil. My boyfriend at the time wasn't a fan but that had more to do with me getting it and not telling him I was going to do it than what I got or that I got anything at all. You write like an 8th grader. |
Weird. |
I love the meaningful use of tattoos, which is of course their original intent. I have a friend with a Chinese symbol on her shoulder, which she got when she was having a particularly hard time in life and needed to find some balance. It reminds her that she found balance. I have always loved the intricate, elaborate tattoos that I've seen on people in cities like Los angeles or London. I wouldn't hesitate to talk to someone about their tattoo if they were standing next to me in line for a coffee, for instance. Often they are some of the most interesting conversations. |
