| Commercials ARE a program. They present a Gospel message, which is what a church is supposed to do. |
| Have they ever actually released Lon Solomon's salary? Or the salaries of anyone else who works there? |
This is what I'm getting at. If everyone who goes there tithes, where does the millions and millions of dollars go. I'm being recruited is why I'm interested. |

Truly, this person comes out every six months or so and tries to drag down Lon Solomon and McLean Bible church. It's annoying. I don't even attend there but know of Jill's House and all the good they do so post that. If you want to see his old threads just google "McLean Bible Church Lon Solomon DCUrbanmoms" and you'll see the pattern. Over and over with the libel. He really has a problem with large, successful evangelical churches. I suspect it's a neighbor who hates the traffic in that area of Route 7 on Sundays. |
Where are you getting your info?? MBC does NOT require a tithe! That is OLD TESTAMENT teaching. Jesus represents the NEW COVENANT. MBC Iollows the Bible, which says to give sacrificially and cheerfully. Any Christian church requiring a tithe is taking advantage of people's ignorance. |
Such lies! People don't "recruit" at MBC. Try the Mormons, the Jehovah's Witnesses, and cults such as Calvary Temple for that. |
My friend is asking me to come to church with her there. Is that not recruiting? |
| If someone invites you to church it's just that. They just want you to check it out. You can go and never come back or check it out for 20 years. No one is going to force you to do anything. |
| Evangelism is boiler plate Christianity 101. |
| These threads are worthless |
Evangelicals practice a lot of the Old Testament too. |
Ya think?!

If you do not go to MBC please do not post ignorant comments about it. I have been going there for over 2 years now and it is a wonderful church and does so much for the metro DC area. They give out financial information at each membership meeting which is held quarterly. I personally know several people on staff there and they are very caring people who genuinely love Jesus and want to make a positive difference in the world. I have never gotten even the slightest hint (and I was skeptical about them before I started attending) of any financial wrongdoing. Pastor Solomon even takes questions at the quarterly meetings from the audience about the finances and is very transparent. Since it is a very large church, of course their operating budget is large but they also donate a ton of money to various causes both worldwide and in the DC area.
As far as Lon Solomon's salary goes, no, they have not disclosed that but I, for one, do not see any issue with that because I have personally seen how much of a positive impact this church is making on the community and I think he is worth whatever he is being paid. |
No. McLean Bible Church does not recruit and it does not require tithing (10% of gross). It does extraordinary things in the community. Look up Jill's house. |
I completely agree and I do not attend McLean Bible church but used too. It's a wonderful church. A troll pops up attacking McLean Bible Church and Lon Solomon in this forum about every six months - especially on the salary issue. It's just weird and I suspect it's a neighbor who isn't happy with the church's success and sunday traffic of 13,000 people on Route 7. As for OP's question about missions, here's a list on wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLean_Bible_Church. Read "Ministries". Please note that Jill's House, alone, which assists parents of special needs children, cost $18.5 million and is run on McLean Bible Church property. I helped establish it. I admire Lon Solomon and all friends who attend McLean Bible Church. |
