Well then poor Kenny. He better hope that his cell phone battery dies during the snow because if he's the only one people can reach then that's who they are going to contact.

His cell phone mail box is full. Of course it is and that is how it will remain all weekend. I feel that UDC has been a failed effort and that it is going to Lafayette or on site. Both crummy deal breakers and DGS will have to reneg on all the promising.... Just my feeling.

Do you mean that you think DGS/DCPS will reject all the proposed sites and postpone renovation? That would be truly unacceptable.

No. That is not what I meant. I think that UDC not going to be the swing space. I think it is down to Lafayette or on site. I think that we will be on site or at Lafayette. And this will be breaking word to either the Lafayette or Murch communities.

That being said, Kenneth Diggs just called me back. DCPS will be communicating the space choice, but perhaps due to the snow and cancelations maybe it will be pushed...he did not say that it was being pushed but he was going to reach out to them...

Why do you think UDC is out. Have you heard something?

Please post Kenny's cell phone number

It's available in many of the mtg documents posted on the Murch modernization web pages (and the pages of different projects as well) under dgs.dc.gov

Don't know if Jeff has a policy about posting cell phone numbers?

You people are disrespectful. Back off. You will get the info. This is not emergency stuff.

Agree. It's not like you need to report there next Monday or something.

I think if it is going to be UDC it would be announced and every one would breathe a sigh of relief and DCPS would sit back and bask in the win. That is not happening so I think it is a negative. But I am a doomsday kind do person.

UDC thinks that Ward 3 doesn't really want them in Upper NW and so they have little interest in helping the neighborhood.

The renovation is set to begin in 5 months and kids will return in 7 months. Not having a swing space is an emergency.

I have lived in close proximity to UDC and have never felt that UDC has done anything to engage the community. The only thing that I can think of that they did do was lock the tennis courts. When we first moved here they were available to the community with the lights, then they weren't. Maybe this would be a way to engage the neighbors.

+1. The people running the Language program and X-day are waiting to hear where the swing space is going to be to get organized and see if they actually can still run an aftercare for Murch (can they use the trailers after school? can they walk to the location where they are now? should they hire buses? it all depends where the swing space is), parents need to know if they are going to have an aftercare, how to pick up/drop off (especially families with no car) and so on. this has been going on for a long time, the decision was already expected back in November (which would not have been that early considering that renovation was supposed to start only months away), then December, then January 12, then January 21..

and this is the thread about Murch swing space, if you don't care, just don't open it.

DCPS just announced that Murch will not be swinging to Lafayette. Not sure what location DCPS has chosen.
