This is my understanding as well. Any use adjacent to an embassy has to be cleared for security risks.

I don't know what's worse: having to deal with DCPS or a Communist bureaucracy.

DCPS...no question. In China they wouldn't be holding community meeting after community meeting.

Good luck, Murch community. Sounds like it's going to be a tough couple of years. But, keep your eye on the prize: a renovated school, with almost the entire boundary secured. You won the biggest battle. Now, try to focus on making sure it all runs smoothly from here on out. You can do it; and, in the end, Murch will be even more of a gem.

ps - and stop complaining for a little while. I know it's not ideal. And you have little faith any of this will be done seamlessly. But sometimes you have to pick your battles. It sounds like there were no perfect solutions; and this was clearly a surprise and less than perfect. But the plan is moving forward. yay for that.

Now focus on helping the teachers make this as easy as possible.

Once you get over 95% IB the school will give Mann and Janney a run for their money.

What sort of strange pep talk is this?

That's why I'm reluctantly voting for Trump. We can't let the Communist Chinese hold our public schools hostage.
