Tips on Getting in to First Class

Your DH buys the first class ticket on his personal card and then cancels it for a full refund. Using your credit card you buy two business seats. Then he gets reimbursed for the first class ticket.

Nope, domestic! Also, his employee's travel agency books his ticket. I would book mine.

There is another way on United. If you are paying for coach, and you or your husband are very frequent flyers (over 100k per year) then you may have a free upgrade to first. I think I get four or five free upgrades per year. Worth a call to find out.

I have always cringed with children on flights myself and still do, but if there isn't a no child rule, I'll totally be THAT PERSON if it makes my kid more comfortable to have more space in a pod than in coach. Their comfort is my #1 concern. I'm not overly concerned about their behavior since all of their other flights they have been quiet and they are pretty calm and laid back. They are wiggly now and are large. I'd always take them for a walk if they got loud.

If we can't get me in first, I probably will just let my husband be on baby duty!

Then buy them a seat.

Exactly.

Why not buy a seat for the baby? United point deals should make that doable. You can book flights for yourself and the baby using DH/his points.

If they buy him first class seats usually he should have lots of points. Why use your paltry points? See what is available on the flight while logged into his account.

You suck, OP. Your precious little snowflake's comfort doesn't trump that of other passengers. Babies don't belong in first class, period.

Who are these horrible people who hate babies on airplanes and who say babies don't belong in first class?

Are you also going to say that certain ethnicities don't belong in first class either???

That is an ignorant statement. I have been on plenty of flights where the most annoying people on the flight are adults, and yes even first. You may be able to afford to sit in a particular class but it doesn't mean you have class.

United will not be "nice", not because they don't want to be but because there are tons of people in line in front of you. I am a measly silver level on United which means that I am typically #30 on the upgrade list for the 2 available seats in first class. So unless the flight is completely devoid of frequent flyers you are unlikely to have a shot. I was upgraded once on a flight at Christmas, I guess because it was all leisure travelers and because this plane had an unusually large first class. Otherwise I am happy just to get economy plus.

Domestic first class is no great shakes anyway. It's not worth points for sure. But check your DHs account to see if he's got any upgrades.

Give him the baby. We fly first class quite often with our kids and they have as much right to be there as any other passenger. Quite frequently, they are not the only kids.

You're right. OP sounds like she fits into the "most annoying people on the flight" category. See, e.g. her intention to be "THAT PERSON." What a bitch.

Why does the comfort of the passengers in first trump that of the other passengers?

Your baby is certainly allowed in first. I'd probably just take turns who sits in first with the baby. How young?

As an aside, we were on the Disney Magical Express once and they delayed our departure for the airport by 30 minutes so they could try to squish another whole bus load of people on our bus!! Not sure what happened to the other bus! My (ticketed) 3 yo was passed out in her seat and they actually asked me if I would hold her to give her seat to someone else!! I was like, um no, she's a person like everyone else on this bus!! And they have me a dirty look!

1. Babies have just as much right in 1st class as any other passenger.

2. You have virtually no shot at getting upgraded without paying or using points.

Are there certain ethnicities that are prone to screaming for no reason and crapping their pants?

Stop being obtuse.
