Fear the Walking Dead - Ep. 1 with spoilers

So what did you think of the second episode.

The show is like a knock-off made by CBS to cash in on the zombie craze. Typical dumb moves we've seen in Friday 13th movies thirty years ago, "Oh something bad is happening! Let's split up & you go find your son & I'll go to the school." So poorly done.

Also, I really dislike the characters. You really couldn't have told your nice neighbor mom that something terrible is happening and warn her to stay in the house? No just let her get eaten because you didn't give her any head's up.

Please cut Gilbert Grapes hair.

The only one I like is Tobias. Too bad he had to run into the blonde chick to mess up his plans at the school.

Well, I like it.

As for the neighbor, she knows something is going on. She says so. She sees people packing for the hills. She's probably seen media coverage of the crowds downtown. And, I really believe, in some sort of outbreak/crisis (even w/o zombies) it would be everyone for themselves. So, this is believable to me.

One thing that irritated me with the second episode as compared to the original TWD -
When Madison went back to the school it was empty, except.... but TWD repeatedly shows that when they go on food or supply runs schools/food pantries etc. are overrun with walkers, giving the impression that things went bad VERY FAST.
Either the feds and then the states/municipalities realized there was a problem, like in FTWD and closed public spaces, or they didn't.
Just a small continuity error that pulled me out of the action last night.

I liked it. I like the pacing. I'm ok with the characters so far. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

I'll be happier once Benny is done withdrawing.

Not sure what you mean...just because a high school in Los Angeles is empty it doesn't mean a food pantry in rural Georgia would also be empty. It's not like things would have played out in the exact same way at the exact same time everywhere in America.

The acting is very bad. I really hate when white kids are portrayed like the rude kids here. One junkie, one wild child. I hope they get et early.

And calling everyone baby creeps me out.

Something better jump start this show soon or I'm done. It's boring. The characters are not good at all. Different writers maybe ?

But the timeline is still in the same 24 hours as last episode, it is still the same day/ afternoon as when the school let out early. I found it laughable that the guidance counselor goes back to school and neatly parks her car in a parking space before going in instead of just parking it quickly right in front. And after all that killing the principal, it looks like they left all that food there. I like Tobias, I hope we see him again. He needs a bigger knife!

And why is the barber shop guy so angry and rude? That whole nasty attitude from him and his daughter is strange. I wonder if they are hiding a walker in the back (someone they love but don't understand how sick they are). It's weird.

I have a feeling that the main family will seek out Tobias at some point...the guidance counselor dropped him at his house, so she knows where he lives now. Don't get me started on the scene in the high school, with the woman *who has encountered a zombie already and knows what to expect* walking up to the clearly undead principal and then getting attacked, like a moron. And then kind of slowly fumbling around for a weapon at the top of the staircase while Tobias almost gets eaten. And she calls her husband "babe" which is perhaps the most egregious character flaw of all.

I love boyfriend Matt's house! That is all.

I've started watching FTWD but have never really seen TWD except for a couple of partial episodes. Do you think I'm missing anything?

I have enjoyed the first two episodes of FTWD and contrary to a pp above, I think the acting is really good, especially the junkie brother (who is a British actor). I wouldn't mind if the Mom character went away, though.

I also took note of it. Mid-century modern? It's a split foyer, though. It's hard to get excited over that.

I loved those matching chairs! I think they had yellow curtains.

I love how the girlfriend's mother and bf just leave the boy to die alone. It is the first time you see them make a decision that is probably against their regular humanity. You later see the mother do it again when she shuts the door preventing her daughter from helping the neighbor. I also cannot believe she just lets Tobias go home alone. The mother is the first, IMO, to turn against her own moral code.

Fudge, curtains = cushions. For Petes sake.

I'm not a TWD watcher. But giving this a shot for my DH (who loves TWD).

My biggest complaint about the 2nd episode--why is no one talking to each other? The parents keep telling their wayward kids--do this because I said so. The teens are, of course, going to be F you, I'm going to do this other thing *that makes sense because I have no idea that magnitude of what is going on*. Why haven't the parents said--"Listen, we've seen at least 2 people who should have been dead, come back to life. Something really, really weird and scary is going on. You need to listen to me and do what I say."

Well at least I won't miss any of the main characters when they start killing off main characters.
