Dumb question, but didn't the Afghan commanders serve as dancing boys at one point?
Not defending this twisted circle of life, but it should be noted that those they're partnering with grew up in a some similarly horrific conditions. It's not like the commander went ROTC at Afghan U. |
No. Dancing boys don't grow up to be Commanders in the Afghan army. Not all boys are sold to older, more powerful men to be raped and used. Even if you came from horrific conditions, why would you perpetrate horror on other innocents!? Dancing boys are sold by poor families. dancing boys are taken by force from families or women who have no husbands-war widows, women themselves who have been raped and are living on the fringes of Afghan society and helpless. Our interpreter told our platoon he was spending his leave buying an 11 year old girl to have sex with/ rape for his 2 week leave. Everyone wanted to beat his ass, minimum. |
Being forced to have sex isn't "serving," btw. It's not a job everyone in AFG serves a tour at, like Mandatory Service in the Israeli Military. |
Many AFG Commanders spend time in America at our taxpayer expense learning about training military units. There are entire leadership courses for foreign officers (and many times they bring their families) on military installations here in America. Overseas, we spend billions on training, bribing, outfitting, paying, etc, commanders and soldiers and police so that they can defend and run their own countries. Let's not forget the ultimate sacrifice: the lives of men and women in outr Military, who die on foreign soil to help these people. My best friend's husband died in a vineyard in AFG when his 2 AFG Army trainees abandoned him, unbeknownst to him. They left their positions quietly and he was engaging the enemy from the front, the enemy came n from behind-where the AA was supposed to be. They weren't. He's dead. |
I am so sorry PP. Yet who does the US army choose to make an example of? The Afghan army's fickleness is legendary. And we give so much aid and support. To draw the line at child rape and mother beating when brought into camp is laudable. I have no doubt his commanders would prefer he look the other way, perhaps it even jeopardized his ability to work there and a new team needed to be brought in..but to FIRE him? At the same.time recruits back home are sitting through their endless sexual.harrassment training. Unbelievable. And lets not forget male to male rape is one of the major issues our military is dealing with right now. |
I don't know how anyone can read this stuff and not feel sick. One thing I do know . . . this Green Beret is a hero. I would be so proud if he were my son. He epitomizes what is great about America. |
For me it would depend on if he was intervening in an active assault or was he reacting to something that had already occurred? |
I nearly vomited reading the PP's posted article. I commend the GB who refused to turn a blind eye. |
It makes no difference to me. He was the one there, the one experiencing everything around him, the one who knew what had happened, the one who had to deal with this distraught mother, and the one who knew the only way to deal with this horrible monster. He also has to live the rest of his life with all of the crap he has seen. I don't second guess him for a minute. We should be so fortunate to have men like him in our midst. If he wants to serve us, please let him! |
Does anyone know if there is a petition or anything that we can sign?
I think this is such a travesty. After reading his accomplishments, I am totally sickened by his treatment. We need more soldiers like this one. |
There is a Congressman looking into this - I'll look for more details to post so you can voice your support. Meanwhile in France its being reported off duty American servicemen subdue a gunman on a.train. Hope they don't get in trouble for 'knocking him down'' ![]() |
OO-RAH!!!!! |
Would you have the same opinion if it was a police officer that did the same thing? |
Police officers are apprehending someone in the clear chain of command. This green beret was trying to impress on a partner that his actions were not acceptable . We know what's happened to the green beret. What do you suppose happened to the child rapist mother beater? Anything? Or is he still on our payroll with lots of others like him? |
The Afghan man he pushed was a police officer. In your hypothetical, it would be one police officer pushing another. |
