U.S. Army discharging decorated Green Beret after fight with Afghan commander

Anonymous

War is horrible. Horrible things happen. Blame is all over the place and we can try to measure who does more harm than who. But what hope is there for a culture/civilization/society that tolerates chaining up its young boys and raping them? Even worse, the "powers that be" (who we are trying to help) are the ones doing it?

Even the Taliban does not tolerate this.

What are we fighting for if we allow the "rulers" there to do this? Is this okay?

This story is very important, but put on page 10 of the Post today (overshadowed by the shootings of the reporters in VA). These two lives were important too (#servicememberlivesmatter).

I don't know how anyone can read this stuff and not feel sick.

One thing I do know . . . this Green Beret is a hero. I would be so proud if he were my son. He epitomizes what is great about America.

So write your Congressmen and your Senators, all! You're all aware part of the problem is our men and women have to 'show respect for their culture and traditions' right? So that means we have to tolerate their raping children on OUR bases? I think NOT!

stop it stop it stop it. I'm sick and tired of you blaming this on "respecting their culture". It is utter BS. We are allies with bad people, and this is the outcome. They also put up with our raping and killing.

Excuse me? They also put up with our what??? Name.one incident in Iraq or Afghanistan where a military personnel went rogue and was not punished??? This police officer was NEVER punished for child rape..our green beret was. If you actually read the link, it says the locals were upset when the green berets were extracted and sent home. You have slandered our military. Name ONE incident where locals were forced to 'put up' with our rape and killing and it was not investigated / punished.

Guess you never heard of the U.S. raids in Wardak province between October 2012 and February 2013, for one.

Tell me an example from this war when a us soldier raped or murdered and went unpunished. If you are anti war thats that. You will think everything that happens in war is murder ans you are entitled to your opinion. I am taking about a us soldier raping or murdering someone and the military not seeking disciplinary action. Examples please.

Five Americans have died in the last week there. I hope this withdrawal is being managed properly and the Americans there are not being put to undue risk.
