What do you snack on? Whenever I have tried it I ate so much cheese and nuts. I hate eggs too
|
| uh, don't the hip kids say "paleo" these days. You're dating yourself OP but regardless, good for you! And just be sure you source the best possible meat you can afford. |
I never did strict Atkins. But these are some low carb snack ideas: You can eat raw veggies and blue cheese dressing. Kale chips. Stuffed green olives. Stuffed and/or marinated mushrooms. Pickles. Tomato/mozzarella skewers. Steamed shrimp. A can of albacore tuna. Or even albacore tuna mixed with mayo. Pork rinds. Sauteed chicken breast. Even a small garden salad with crumbled bacon. |
| Oh, and chicken wings. Just don't bread them. |
An excess of carbohydrate intake makes you fat, whether that's from whole grains, white flour, or sugar. Processed carbs just do it faster. |
|
I actually lost a lot of weight when I restricted my carb intake (like, 35 lbs). I gained maybe 3-4 lbs back. I exercise a lot though, which I think helped me when I slowly re-incorporated carbs (mostly whole grains - nothing processed and no sugar) into my diet.
I think that if you lose the weight and then go right back to eating processed carbs/sugar stuff all the time, yes - you will very likely regain the weight. |

When you lose the weight and add carbs back in, it's more like a tablespoon of brown rice at lunch. A 1/4 cup of cous cous for dinner. It's not like you can start eating pizza and french fries like you used to and expect to keep the weight off. It's more like you can have your turkey and swiss wrapped in a low carb tortilla vs. lettuce.
Simple carbs are a rare, every few months sort of treat. |
you are so FUCKING rude! why am I not shocked.... |
Good for you OP. keep us posted. very inspirational. |
....calm down PP. |
AN excess of anything, including protein, makes you fat. Most Americans get WAY nore protein than they need, and those people are just as fat as the people who exceed the grains recommendations. I swear to god, the people who know so little about nutrition and spout their pseudo science as fact make me ill. |
You clearly have never tried Atkins. It really is amazing. And most of the reason it works is that the initial water weight loss is incredibly motivating. The only issue is keeping it off if you don't cut out processed carbs for life. I like how Paleo people probably turn their noses up at Atkins like 1, it's totally different and 2, we want the lifespan of early man. Idiots. |

O.k. Please give me an example of all of this high calorie protein that people are eating. How many chicken breasts, cans of tuna, etc that they are eating to make themselves fat. |
You clearly don't understand the Atkins diet. http://www.atkins.com/how-it-works/atkins-20/phase-1/tips-and-advice 3 meals a daay, 2 snacks, lots of water, 4-6 oz of meat per meal, 3 T of fat, lots of veggies. Wow! Sounds very unhealthy.
