Best Tampons

I use Natura because they're organic and 100% cotton... never had a problem with them but they only come with a cardboard applicator so I'll admit that Tampax, etc, is easier to use. I just don't want all that nastiness up in there. You can get Natura online or at Whole Foods.

I like the Tampax Pearl. But it really varies from woman to woman. When I was a teenager I thought I hated tampons because my mom always used Playtex but I guess they just didn't work on my body shape.

I love my diva cup...agreed it takes some getting used to but love it. Would never go back to tampons and wish I'd had a cup from the start.

Could one of the cup lovers explain the extrication/emptying process? Not graphically necessarily. Just trying to get how they actually work.

Playtex Sport. Just tried them after years of Gentle Glide and am never going back.

Instead leaks for me.

Kotex! They actually open wide enough to give full protection. All I can use after having a baby

It's easy peasy, you just pull it out, keeping it upright (this may sound difficult, but it's really not), then just dump the blood out into the toilet, then rinse it out in the sink and re-insert. I carry baby wipes with me in my purse so that if I'm in a public restaurant with stalls, I can just wipe it off with one of those instead of using the sink. It's really not as messy as it sounds. I also find the cup much more comfortable than tampons.

Oops, I am the posted from the other day that said Playtex to replace OB Ultra. You are reminding me that I meant Kotex Super Plus in place of the OB Ultras.

Seasoned user: grab the stem and squeeze the cup slightly to break the seal. Pull it out and dump it in the toilet. Wash and replace. Sit back and enjoy not having to spend money on tampons.

Newbie: grab the stem and pull the wrong direction. Realize the place looks like a crime scene because of your blunder. Try to handle the very slippery cup while you try to wipe it off. Drop it in the toilet. Curse. Wonder what you're going to do because you don't have other supplies handy. Curse again. Assemble a makeshift pad. Go find tampons.

+1 million on this....grizzly crime scene but seriously once you're used to it, you never want to go back...not to mention things like long trips where you don't want to lug two boxes of tampons, the cup goes in the handbag, done.

How do you deal with it in a public restroom?

Because it can stay in for so long, you don't usually need to empty it when you're out. If you do, just empty, wipe it off with toilet paper and reinsert.

I've never been able to use tampons. The idea of keeping something inside me for hours just makes me cringe. I'm jealous that you all don't have to worry about swimming during your period, though.

Another vote for Kotex. After 2nd child, Tampax were uncomfortable.
