Seems like this woman has a really good case. Looks like United needs to change some procedures.

They did! Another passenger recordered it and can be heard saying "this is crazy!" Majority of passengers were on the mom's side.

I know but I would like to read their statements to the police and see a few interviews. Just to get a 360 view of what happened.

If her daughter needs hot food, why doesn't she travel with hot food?

Hon, the police didn't take passenger statements.

You don't need a 360 view of this incident, you're not the judge or anything.

I read the articles - it sounds like the flight attendants kicked them off because of the mother, not the daughter with autism. Not saying I agree, but it sounds like she got into it with one of the crew over the food and that is what got them removed.

Thank you! I would think you would want to minimize the chance that your kid would have a meltdown and hurt someone.
What happens if she does that in midair?

Yes. In fact the police did take statements.

How, exactly, would you do that? And according to the article, they did have a bag full of her favorite snacks.

I assume if the daughter is potentially going to have a meltdown as epic as the one the mother predicted, they could have brought their own food (with a doctor's note if necessary to carry on) and asked for it to be heated.

Oh yeah, that flight attendant sounded really willing to heat up food for her.... As it is, he brought her what was supposed to be a hot sandwich and it was cold.

I've been on planes that didn't have hot food. What would she have done at that point?

My guess would be that the kid saw a specific food go by, and wanted that particular food, and couldn't understand why it wasn't available to her.

If there hadn't been hot food on the plane, she wouldn't have seen it in the first place.

Uh you do realize that they were not in first class....hence they sit BEHIND those people and would not have seen it.

The kitchen on most planes is in the back, so the food is carried up the aisle.

Having said that, I just read the article. The mom asked them to heat up a chicken sandwich. The flight attendant refused.

If she was in economy - she wouldn't have seen it.

I'm thinking it was (I read the mom's facebook post) "my child was hungry and I needed to get something into her system"

I wasn't there - and probably neither were any other of the posters on DCUM who are speculating, but it seems the child didn't cry until the mom started fussing about how she would start scratching herself if she didn't get food.
