I'm thinking it was (I read the mom's facebook post) "my child was hungry and I needed to get something into her system" I wasn't there - and probably neither were any other of the posters on DCUM who are speculating, but it seems the child didn't cry until the mom started fussing about how she would start scratching herself if she didn't get food.
