When a man criticizes a woman because of her looks it's usually false and it usually means that he is hurt. Maybe he tried to ask one out but was flat out rejected. In my experience as a friend of indian women, they strongly go with the wishes of who their parents would see as their ideal mate. To do so otherwise could cause them to be shunned. This depends as well on their religion since India is huge with many religions (buddhism started there) and the skin color ranges from very light to very dark due to intermixing in the past. Their strong values to abide by parents wishes and marry well to an indian engineer, doctor, etc who makes a lot of money makes the average white guy feel they don't measure up. There is of course a caste and class system in India and it's a custom that plays here in the US. East asians do share that value of discipline, taking STEM degrees (Washpost said that Virginia's TJ school of science and technology drew in more Asian students than ever), and just more competitive due to family upbringing same as south asians, but the east asian girls are more likely to accept to date white guys because of status, money, or looks.

As an individual of South Asian origin, I keep most of these diatribes against Indians in perspective.

I really believe that there are three or four posters who are responsible for all these negative postings including the stereotyping. But they post repeatedly and this makes it appear that it is pervasive. Now this is not to say that there are whites who don't find South Asian men and women appealing to them and therefore would not go out with them but that is more an individual preference. There are South Asians who will not go out with other racial groups and may even prefer to go out with others from the same part of India or Pakistan that they are from.

Yes, some of the comments are quite vile but responding to the more absurd ones - which some South Asians do - tends to merely encourage these people who make these posts.

It's been amazing. He's a professor... Very patient and kind, flexible and resourceful, tolerant and open minded with a good sense of humor. I'm grateful I found him.
We actually had zero problems with his family or mine before getting married. I know he's rare though compared to his friends and other South Asians as he's not judgmental or concerned with status like I've seen.

I am Indian. My brother married an Irish Catholic woman. The religion/race was a non-issue to my immigrant parents. I also married outside my religion and it was a non issue for both sets of parents.

Hey, don't be offended. I am calling it like the world sees it.

Whites are usually racist and abusive. They hate Blacks and Hispanics and call them lazy. They do not let their kids go to school in which the population of Blacks and Hispanics is high. They give the excuse that students of these race are disruptive and low performing. On the flip side, they have a problem with Asians doing well in the school.

They kill Black people with impunity every day. That is how much they hate Black people. They call Indians all kinds of names because Indians are doing well in this country.

I am hoping that when in 50 years or so, Hispanics will become the majority in this country, maybe attitudes will change.
